Suspension light during/after highway driving

For the second time in a week I got the check air suspension warning after driving about 49 miles at high speed. The first time it came on while still on the turnpike without slowing down. Last night it came on when I slowed down to exit. Both times I turned the car off after getting home and restarted it to see if the compressor would work, which it wouldn't. The next day the car acted normal and everything worked. It's not leaking, as it stays at the lower height just fine for days.

I suspect the relay, as maybe it's heat related, and also the relay was used with the pryor failing compressor. The compressor itself is new. I wanted to see if anyone else had this problem before I drop $70.00 on a new relay. (I do know how to use the anti-lock brake relay to test, and will do that first.)

Hey Zeb! A bad relay is definately a possibility, but I think you should go sweet talk that mechanic that worked on your car before and get him to pull the codes. It may be something totally different.

RE: Suspension light during/after highway driving

Hey BC, it got worse: The last time I drove the car the rear went somewhat flat, and after sitting in the garage all week the rear went the rest of the way down. It throws the warning at startup. This still happened after I unhooked the battery for a couple of minutes.

I will borrow a scanner...

RE: Suspension light during/after highway driving

The vehicle is supposed to drop after reaching 65 mph+.For a more aerodynamic stance on Hi-Way.It can be not sitting in the proper position. It may already be in the lowered position before reaching hi-way speed'or it may be remaining in the the normal stance, after reaching 65mph.My front suspension was re-placed,however, upon closer examination of the situation, there are what are called vent solenoids which should be re-placed with every overhaul of the air suspension system. They do the work of releasing small ammounts of air so asto adjust the ride height of the vehicle upon reaching 65mph,after getting off the expressway, the ride height sensors would relay 411 to the computer to refill air into the suspension system to return vehicle to its proper ride height.

Hope this has helped.

RE: Suspension light during/after highway driving

Hey BC, How do I use the Spyder valve to raise the car? The rear is slammed and I won't be able to get a jack under it. Once I get the scanner I will need to either do some work or take it somewhere, and right now I can do neither.

RE: Suspension light during/after highway driving

Sorry it took so long to get back with you.

Hey Zeb. Go ahead and open the hood, have a air line ready from an air compressor. Turn the ignition on and immediately put the air hose on the shraeder valve. The module will automatically open whichever solenoid it needs to have open, then close it when its done. As long as you supply enough air to the system within 90 seconds, the module won't know any difference.
