Testing and Tuning

With the addition of headers recently and the runs last week at Mason Dixon resulting in record ETs for the Lincoln, I was left wondering if a miss, bog or something was not right at the top end of the track. The car just didn't feel 100% even with the obvious increase in HP. I had attributed it to an ignition miss possibly due to needing spark plugs or it needed re-tuned since the headers were added and it may be running more air and leaning out too much at the top.

So, with a fresh set of plugs installed, off I go to testing and tuning at Mason Dixon Dragway the following Saturday.

The first run was a catastrophe. I had forgotten to switch my SCT chip from 'stock' to 'race'. Good thing it was a Honda. I knew it probably shortly after it shifted into second.

OK, start over. This time I switched the chip. Now I know why pilots have checklists. :7

OK, now I have a baseline to work with. I crank the fuel up 2 psi.

Well that seemed to help. Lets go for another 2 psi.

That proved to be the last run of the day as the staging lanes were closed just as I picked up my timeslip at the booth. ::grrr::

What did I learn?

RE: Testing and Tuning

How much time between runs?

You learned that running consistant 101+mph is tough to do? Get that intake on that thing!!!

I posted the date/time right from the slips. :+

I learned that 13.6x @ 100 at 40* is 13.8x @ 99 at 65*?

I also learned whatever I did seemed to be working well with the car doing 13.82x four times in a row?! ;)

The intake is coming. It better be worth it!! :7
