i took my 98 for a little cruise today, perfecct florida day sunny and about 78 degrees and me and my nephew drove through clearwater beach to see all the awesome construction down there, what a total dump, anyway on the way back we stopped by jeff's jeep world so i could show my nephew some of these trucks they build there. i took a few pics for you to see, if you have never been to florida, these are some of the monsters you have to watch out for on the street, no such thing as a height limit!!!! gotta love that no state inspection law.
this first one was im guessing an early 2000's f-250 with 49 inch swampers.

this next one is a late 80's to early 90's f-250 4 door long bed, also with 49's on it:

this is my nephew standing next to it, he is 5'6 just like me

this was a jeep scrambler, belongs to the owner, has a amc v-8 in it, 401 i think it is and 44 inch boggers in the rear and swampers in the front.

and this one was the most retarded, a mid 90's yota with a small block 350 in it, rockwell axles and tractor tires, im guessing somewhere around the 56 inch mark, the tire size is written differently and i dont understand that farm lingo!!!

I pass by there all the time. Funny how a normally gay truck (ahem, Toyota) can look so tough with a lift and wheels. Anyway, yeah they have some pretty cool looking rides if you are into that sort of thing.

i like them but i wouldnt want one that big. my buddy matt just picked up a 94 chevy silverado 2500 x cab long bed and its got a 6 inch fabtech lift and 40 inch goodyears on it. i drove it yesterday to my house from the shop to get my nephew and brother in law and man driving that thing i felt like i could have run anyone over. it isnt as big as those trucks, but after driving my lincoln, i felt like i was in bigfoot!! it was awesome.

Yea those are HUGE. I have a TD 2000 F250 with a 6 inch lift and 37's and it feels huge to me. Mine is pretty much as big as you would usually see on the road up here.....

max you got so burnt off that comment from kyle i can smell you from florida!!

in california, you have trophy trucks and sand rails for the dunes out there, the point of those trucks here is all the swamps they like to beat those trucks in. mud boggin here is huge, they have competitions here with trucks like that, who can make it through the mud hole and who cant, it seperates the boys from the men, its just something to do. i still cant get over the comment above, that was classic lol. i'm sure your point wasnt to compensate for anything max, but that is the stereotypical reaction to owning a car like that. my father in law fits the bill, he owns a vette to compensate the lack of money, he wants people to think he has some!!

Make fun all you want guys :D Your comments don't bother me ;).

Jamie... yea I have seen those mudhole videos ... dear god :) Whatever rocks your boat eh?!

yup, if they want to spend that kind of money and then beat the living hell out of them and destroy everything when the mud creeps in to the important drivetrain parts, more power to them!! i'd invest my money somewhere else, but it is awesome to watch, knowing it isnt you wrecking your stuff!!!

i've never been in a corvette as new as Max's, i know without even being in it the ride is much nicer then my father in laws vette, but you couldnt pay me to take my father in laws, i've been in 1 ton work vans that have a better ride. he has a 91 convertable, it is his 3rd c-4 vette and i think they are turds. how anyone can enjoy the ride they have is beyond me. i'm sure yours is a nice cruiser max, but i still couldnt own one.

So those things actually run on the road? I'd be scared to be near one. Is it possible to even rear end it, or would you just pass right through underneath?

LOL, I think some Corvette owners don't compensate, but I met a true compensator the other day at a liquor store. They're easy to spot.

oh yeah trixie, they drive on the road. me personally i wouldnt want to drive near one just for the reason they are so high, yes you would go right under one, and probably take your head off too. when i lived in massachusetts we had height restrictions, you could not alter the height any more then 2 inches up or down from stock, they pulled tape measures out at the state inspection bays. the only way you could register a truck remotely big like these up in mass was to register it as heavy farm equipment, but then you had to prove you owned a farm! there is a limit when you go from lifted improved suspension, to just plain unsafe!

Yea it was difficult to get an inspection in MA with my truck, your pretty much have to know somone. It is somewhere about a foot higher than stock between suspension and tires. For trucks in MA the formula for lift is different than the standard 2" lift or lower for cars. You take the wheelbase in inches multiply by the track width in inches, and divide by 2200. With a quad cab F250 short bed it gives you about 4 inches.

my buddy todd had an f-250, 1988 with 8 inches of lift between tires and suspension, and he had really dark tint, he used to come to our garage for stickers and my boss would give him one because the truck always needed something, and we told him if you let us do the work and you give us the business, we'll do your inspections lol. that was a few years ago, once they introduced the dyno and new machines, todd took the truck off the road and replaced it with a quad cab power stroke f-250. now my other buddy owns the 88 and they just play with it in the woods behind his house!!!

They are actually doing away with the dyno machines. Come Jan 1st of 08 they are no longer doing emissions on OBD1 cars, just safety. OBD2 is just a safety and plug in test. Which is great because my 97 doesn't have any cats =).
