They say you can't win them all...

… but I sure can try!

I went to the races this past Friday night with $35 in my pocket. After entry fee and food I was left with $10. I hadn’t been feeling well all day, I didn’t feel as if I was “all there” and had no confidence in myself for the upcoming races.

I unloaded my trunk and made a few time trials…
30 min. cool down after driving 80mph for 1 ½ hours to get there…
-.021 RT
9.63 @ 74.79
I went back to the pits and let the car cool down for another 30 min…
.030 RT
9.59 @ 74.96
.001 RT
9.65 @ 74.63

I’m starting to feel a little better at this point.
But now the time comes to choose a dial-in.
*dum dum dum, dum dee dum dum dum*
I write 9.57 on my window and the announcer makes the call, “Street Stock to lanes 5, 6 and 7!” I headed right for the lanes… they pull us across and end up having to race my buddy Glenn (stone17) in his Mark VIII, well, I won that race (not a happy win) and head back to our pits.

The announcer makes the call, “Jackpot bring you, your car and $20 to lanes 5, 6 and 7!”
*doh* I’ve only got $10 left *kicks stuff around*
The announcer makes the second call, “I KNOW we have more Jackpot folks out there! Bring your $20 to lanes 5, 6 and 7!”

Everyone starts asking me if I’m going run… I show them my empty pockets and say, “Nope, not tonight… I can’t afford it”
At this point my buddy Scott pull his wallet out of his pocket, hands me $20 and says, “Here, go WIN THAT THING!”. My reply, “Oh thanks Scott, no pressure, just GO WIN! Hahaha”. So, I headed for the lanes, gave them Scott’s money and entered the race.

Now, I’m going to post this entire time slip because this was called, “The BEST race of the night!” by the track officials.

*WHEW* What a race! The announcer says, “Oh close off the tree, this is gonna be a drag race to the strip….(we cross the finish line) OH MY GOOODNESS! Finish line margin of .0003!!!”

I head back to our pits, and shortly there after I’m called back up for street stock.
I won that race *woohoo* and headed back to the pits. Pretty much about the time I sit down, I get called back up for Jackpot. I ended up nailing the guy to the tree with a .017 to his .152, and I win!

Back to the pits… and again, right as I sit down I hear the announcer “Street Stock to lanes 5, 6 and 7!”. Can a girl get a break? NO WAY! Back to the lanes I go.
I ended up against Tommy (XLRVIII) sad but true… I sent him back to the pits with a losing time slip (sorry babe).

I headed right back to the lanes! To heck with sitting down, let’s go racing!

Jackpot Final:
I have to race a motorcycle… again I nail another one to the tree with a .020 RT to his .292… silly boy does a wheelie and almost falls down trying to catch me! The win light burns in my lane! SWEET, I’ve won Jackpot!

Now… back to Street Stock. Same as before I just headed right back to the lanes… my opponent is driving a 98ish Mustang GT this is his FIRST bracket race and he’s made it to the finals. We sat and talked for a few min. I gave his big congrats on how well he had done… then they send us to the tree. Yet again, another one nailed to the tree… my RT is .053 to his .337 and I win Street Stock.

I got a neat-o little trophy to add to my collection along with $140 to put in my pocket, but first I gave Scott his $20 back with a BIG “Thank You!”. He tells me, “I knew you were going to win. I could tell!!”

So… thanks to a little help from my friends, I’m a winner again!
