Things I learned at Carlisle 2008

1. PA has really odd liquor laws.

2. Tixer's girlfriend Sarah is the only voice of reason.
While on our way to Carlisle from the Yuengling brewery tour, Steve, with his GPS gets on the 81 on ramp going the wrong direction. He slams on his brakes, it looks like Tixer probably had to slam on his, and we slowed and cruised up the ramp. Steve says, no problem, let's all back up. Hubby says, let's make a u-turn. Sarah comes on and quietly says, how about we go up to the next exit and turn around. Oh, good idea!

3. The number 327 must mean something.... someone should have gotten a lottery ticket
Three of us staying at different hotels were staying in room 327.

4. Carlisle weather sucks. Every year. No further explanation needed. :(

5. The Mark VIII community really does stick together and help each other out and cheer each other on. :big-grin:

6. When making a smart-ass comment meant to be funny about a potential homeless man, first check to see if he is standing right behind you.

7. There is no bottom to Saxy's cooler.

8. Strawberry Smoothies and vodka go great together.

9. Do not lend your scooter to a drunk member while allowing a stubborn member to sit in your new Yuengling chair when shade is at a premium. :D

10. Carlisle must have more firetrucks and ambulances than the city of Chicago. :fart

Who has a pic of Isaac sleeping, and everyone messing with him? That was priceless. Passed out, cell phone open and asleep mid text.

That's in the daily update thread, Eric.

Ooops, forgot:

12. Apparently missing a much needed haircut appointment doesn't hold much sway in lobbying for the hard luck award.

Neither does staying up 40 hours, driving all night and morning, then passing out around you hooligans only to be decorated and "documented." Many many many thanks to Mrs. Driller for disallowing any sharpies!! I owe ya. :D

I can't wait to see my flag pic. Reminiscent of good ol' Hacksaw Jim Duggan!! I've got a couple photos to post up from our trip back and "dinner detour" thru the heart of Queens. Not to be confused with the Queen of Carlisle, Chris, who as I later found out, called me hottie or something. I can take a compliment, but if he asked me what he asked poor Bill, I wouldn't have been the only one unconscious in a trunk.... ;)

OK i learned that yall were not to fancy for me.. even though i left friday night... i though the weather held out and was nice ..

Sorry Brian sweetheart, I spent the whole weekend with hubby, so the deal's off. But still come up and see me sometime. ;)

Made it home safely!

Made it home safely!

Hey everyone. Just figured we'd check in. I see many others have already. We ended up spending the night in Chicago, getting there around midnight (eastern time) just as the storms hit. We just walked in the door here in River Falls to 70 degree weather, and low humidity. Thank God. A grand total of 2444.2 miles, according to the car's trip-meter. Of course, this will be a tad high due to the low profile tires..

Thanks again everyone! We had a great time!

Mike and Sarah

Attached is a representitive photo of our week together. Enjoy!

Glad you made it home safe Mike. Good thing you didn't stop at our house since we ended up somehow about 3 hours behind you, lol.

Kristin and I just got in also. It took us over an hour to get though Indianapolis today because it was raining so hard, but we mad it back in one piece. We had an absoutely teriffic time, and look forward to seeing you all again next year. We already made reservations at the days inn.

BTW I just realized this is my first post, but it certainly wont be the last.

I'm glad to hear that everyone made it home safe.

I learned in Carlisle, that if I'm going to be drinking beer all day, in 90 degree temperatures, it needs to be ice cold Guinness.:D

I should have at least been hungover, but I wasn't.

Guinness: "A sandwitch in every pint".:)

Yeah Bill, we must have sweat all the alcohol out or something.

Chris, glad you guys made it and glad you'll be posting more! And hopefully it won't take til next year to see you guys again -- I'm sure there will be some other meets that you two can hopefully attend.
