This is sobering, scary and every other emotion possible

RE: This is sobering, scary and every other emotion possible

This is very spooky.

The USA cannot afford to be nice guys anymore.

But I fear it's going to take another 911 before anything useful is done.

RE: This is sobering, scary and every other emotion possible

well, if we have another 911 we won't have any rights left...

RE: This is sobering, scary and every other emotion possible

Well, it is very simple. No matter what we do we cannot prevent "terrorism". To think that we can is assinine. So, should we give up the freedom and liberty that our country was founded for in the name of, gasp, liberty? The number cause of our reduction in freedom has been, and will be, in name of freedom.

RE: This is sobering, scary and every other emotion possible

My 2 cents here. That was all an excersize by the FBI and the air marshalls. Those "terrorists" were way too obvious. I mean, come on...how many of us LOD members could have pulled that off without being noticed? The stewardess said the plane was full of air marshals. She was right...14 of them. And no arrests?...because they were air marshalls, or FBI agents. To me, that kind of excersize would be valuable in that it would provide data as to how the American public would react to suspicious activity. And the lack of airport security? It's still there...it's just not a formal check anymore. Airport plain clothes agents can strip search anyone just by looking at them. X-ray glasses exist. I used to work for a company that made some of the parts. It does not emit X-rays, but it does detect and map background x-ray levels in order to produce an image. The airlines are reluctant to advertise this because it does see through clothing, though there really isn't much to see as far as flesh is concerned; only body curvature.

In short, I think it was a worthwhile experiment by the government.

RE: This is sobering, scary and every other emotion possible

That story is TOTAL BS! A terrorist in a yellow shirt, yeah right!
Besides this article is coming from a womens magazine that thrive off of dramatic stories. Most women love to read that kind of drama.

I cannot believe that a plane full of American men that live in LA would sit there and let this activity happen with out responding, especially after 911.

Total BS!
Total BS!
Total BS!

::wtf::   ::nono:: reminds me of the time me and all my fbi buddies took a trip to area 51 to take a ride in the new rocket propelled jet pack, with the infrared laser evaporater, that would shrink people to the size of an ant. that was before we came up with the idea for the flux capacitor ::wtf:: .......Uhhhh wow!!!

RE: This is sobering, scary and every other emotion possible

I don't know which is scarier....a dry run by 14 practicing terrorists or an experiment by 14 government agents!

RE: This is sobering, scary and every other emotion possible

The are trying to develop these glasses into a wand type device to detect suspicious objects, since in our society it is objectionable for security personnel to see everyone nude.

Personally, I would prefer ten airport security see me nude than one coroner.

Hear, hear! (But I would want a full release from any future claims of emotional distress from having seen me in my birthday suit.) ;)

RE: This is sobering, scary and every other emotion possible

I agree with the crowd reaction test. No way would they really be able to be left alone running all around pulling all that crap normally. I'll bet that the alleged terrorists, were the agents testing security and to see how much they could get away with. With all those trips walking past me with the Mc Donald’s bag, I'd of snatched it out of his hands when he passed me in the isle and opened it up being all pissed off. What’s he gonna do kick my but for taking his toilet munchies? Who sits on the can munching fries? I mean common people. I would of given it back to him if it was really food. That’s the problem with people today. Everyone has been so beat down by the government and lawsuits of fighting, that no one dares makes a stand anymore for anything..They let the ambulance chasing lawyers do their fighting for them. Both airliners would have NEVER been able to be flown into the towers if someone took charge and attacked the terrorists. I mean common, a freakin box cutter? Do you know how many times he’d have to slash you with it to kill you? Hell even if the terrorist had a gun, they can’t shoot us all theory works with an angry mob. The gun only has at most 30 bullets in it, about 10 would be misses, 20 would be the first wave of attackers (not everyone would recieve a lethal shot), then everyone could beat the crap out of the terrorist with his own gun.
What we need in this world is to go back to old school. Deregulate the stupid patriot act, give power to make laws back to the states, uphold the constitution (the way it ORIGINALLY was) before the new world order freaks got a hold of it. If someone picks a fight, or threatens you or your loved ones, take no mercy and beat the living sH** out of them. Not only will this cure the situation at hand, it will make others who are watching in background think twice about messing with an American again. What we need are more John Wanes and Clint Eastwoods. Not the sissy pretty boys Hollywood is making now as the action heroes.
Wow, sorry people I went off on a tangent or two venting. But our screwed up government really makes me angry...Time for another Pepsi..Have a nice day ;-)

RE: This is sobering, scary and every other emotion possible

It was on CNN earlier today. Turns out these guys were a Syrian band! They were touring the US and were simply perceived as acting strangely, all they were doing was hanging out with each other. The Marchalls checked them out, even went to their gigs and these guys were just a bunch of eccentric musicians.

See how people can get riled up and suspicious over nothing? The woman who wrote the article won't let it rest, on CNN after hearing it was just a band still insisted that they "could have been" terrorists on a dry run and we need to do more to prevent such things. I guess she wants to prohibit bands from flying?

Did no one read the link I posted earlier in this thread???::roll::

RE: This is sobering, scary and every other emotion possible

I have another angle for you guys to think about. It is highly probable.

The FBI has been watching these guys. They have intercepted their conversations with others, and may even have somebody working on the inside as an informant. The FBI is aware that these guys are going to do a dry run. Arresting these guys for a dry run will give these guys a year at the most in jail. The identity of their informant will be found out, and the means to how they obtained the information will now be demanded by the defense attorneys. Why rush in and do anything if you know it is a dry run. Why not just staff enough guys on the plane to ensure safety if things get out of hand. Now you are the FBI agents and air marshalls. You possibly have an informant in the group who can witness exactly how these guys intend to build a bomb on the plane. Perhaps you even get up and go to the bathroom to check out their progress. Even more possible, you set up a camera in the bathroom ahead of time knowing that these guys are going to be on the flight to do a dry run.

Now what do we have. KNOWLEDGE! That is what we need to win this war. We need to understand our enemy and see how they are going to do things. Now we know how they intend to smuggle the items on the plane, and how they intend to do things. Perhaps some baggage handler was in with these guys. Now you have also identified another enemy. All the while these guys think they are getting away with their big plan. We can go back and train pilots, stewardes' and other marshals on what to look for.

Another aspect about the Marshalls not getting involved is the importance of their identity being unknown. If our guys get involved over something so simple their identity will be known. If I was a terrorist that is the first information I would want to know. Who do I need to kill first so I can now have a gun.

As for the response by the FBI, it only makes sense. You come out and say "these guys are nobody". We questioned them becouse people were having a hissy fit. Now you can continue to monitor who they talk to and what their future plans are. If they come out and say "we knew they were terrorist" the game is over. We have lost some very important marks as well as our informant who was in the group.

In the grand scheme of things, what is more important. A few people getting their feathers ruffled, or the knowledge gained by sitting back and learning from our enemy. In the long run your discomfort is far less important than the safety of the rest of our country.

I applaud the FBI for standing their and taking a beating on this. While everybody stands around and calls them idiots and lazy, they brush it off and keep their eye on the true focus, your ultimate safety.

Edit: oh my god is my spelling bad. Just got home from work and dont want to take the time to fix it.
