Turbo Diesel

I recently aquired an 84' Mark VII Bill Blass Edition "Turbo Diesel" in Goldenrod over Harvest Wheat in absolutely stunning condition.

How can I find out the production numbers and remaining numbers on this car? I ran into someone who was a service manager for Lincoln during this time period and they said they only saw one ever!

Thanks,

RE: Turbo Diesel

I have the stats. I have to go out - but I'll post them here, later....stay tuned :)

RE: Turbo Diesel

Okay. The # made is 2,367 with the BMW engine. This covers the 2nd half of 1984 and all of 1985. They never gave a "by-year" beakout. It was discontined in 1985. Mid 1984 thru mid-1985.

RE: Turbo Diesel

Is there anyway to break down the numbers according to options, colors and packages? How about where in the run of numbers certain cars were produced, i.e.; the twentieth car made...
Thanks alot. Where are you obtaining this info?

RE: Turbo Diesel

No, there's no way to get that info.
I obtained it from the industry trade paper, "Automotive News" 1985 Annual Almanic covering 1985 and the same from 1984, covering 1983.

RE: Turbo Diesel

OMG! I remember selling one of those pigs (gold with a slider) back in '84. Because Caddy had their 8,6,4 engine and the infamous 5.7 diesel, Lincoln figured they had to have one too. Damn thing was tough to start in the cold, typical diesel emissions and slower, I mean slower than molasses.

But, it is still a Mark, so with that said, Congrats and nice find. It is a decent car, I am just not a diesel guy I guess.

RE: Turbo Diesel

No, Lincoln does not release by-color #s. They HAVE it, but will not give it out. (I HATE THAT!!)

RE: Turbo Diesel

It's actually faster than my old MB 300TD and on the highway it moves pretty nicely after say 30 mph. Fast - no but definitley gets out of its own way, surprisingly.

RE: Turbo Diesel

Holy "bring-the-thread-back-from-the-dead"!

Only because I'm still in the market for a diesel Mark VII and have been since about January of 2003. Don't get me wrong ... I've had plenty of oportunities to purchase them but flying from Pennsylvania to California to see one "that doesn't start but looks great" isn't an option anymore. As of this writing, I've narrowed it down to two and BOTH look promising. No, I'm not paying $8,000.00 for a garage queen (see OldSchool5 http://www.LSCclub.org/cars/oldschool5/index.htm) because I have one of those, but I'm also not paying $200.00 for the one in Wisconsin with it's camshaft in the trunk.

If you read more than one Board, then you probably already know of my plight. I actually walked into this Board because of a couple Mark VIII owners (Driller is one) that I met at Carlisle and Bingo, I find the diesel thread.

So let the questions flow and I'll tell you what I know.
