Weird noise when going down hill

So I have noticed over the course of the last couple months that there is a dragging sound coming from the rear when not under throttle going down hill usually while 40mph of lower. Thoughts or suggestions?

Lash problem?? Please explain.

As for the mounts I will get it up today and check it out.

Lash is what some folks refer to as a negative force on a propulsion system...in this case the drivetrain. When coasting, the car is moving the drive train components rather than vice versa, so all the gears are pushing on the other side of the teeth. If there is damage on that side of the gears, it will only reveal itself when coasting.

So I noticed that today it was active while in 2nd and then went away when it shifted. Hmmm...the noise has become increasingly more noticibly. So my radar is up.

Sounds like an intermediate clutch, but that's a wild guess.

Someone else may have more insight.

Good explanation.

But also at coasting, the differential housing is 'reverse torqued' and if the mounts allow, the pinion angle can severely change. You may also notice noise or movement when in reverse.

Yes...good thinking. That old rubber bushing has got to be going bad on a lot of Marks by now.
