Yeah you know that little thing that looks like a hoof behind the rear view?? i can't find what the heck that is in the manual... Oh wait does it help my Mark fly...? LOL Thanks guy's and girls

You should really tell us what year Mark, and sometimes depending on the question, the miles.

Anyhow, guessing you have a second Gen, its for your compass.

How Stupid i know better...sorry it's a 96 mark i thought that maybe the compass but my dad's 95 mark doesn't have it, i though maybe phone antenna...and speaking of i have a phone jack in my "armrest compartment" which phone can i get and will it still work? and i also don't have the phone/radio mute on the pillar like the 95 mark ?? oh and the little "hoof" is closer to the glass than the mirror

That device behind the mirror is the compass module.
My 95 (don't have the car anymore) had that, so I am suprised that your there is not one on your Dads.
Maybe they changed mid-year.

I dont know but I think ALL Mark VIII's came with phone jacks...just not all came with phones.

But those that did, the antennae was mounted to the outside of the rear window.

My buddy's 93 has no phone option(have orig. window sticker) and no button on the pillar, but there is a phone jack in the console.

I am sure they all came "ready", but not all "received".
