Whose kitten has recently died?

Man did I have a crappy couple of days. I run a very small business, and make average money for a teenager doing so. I do it because I don't have to work hardly at all and I set my own hours. Recently, everything I own, has been breaking. So far this month I will have spent more than $1000 just fixing crap not getting anything new. And thats all stuff I fixed myself, so no labor involved. Money that I could have easily turned into 1400-1500 investing. $1000 might not be much to an adult, but to a 19 year old it quite a bit. Its between 10-20% of what I will earn this year BEFORE taxes.

So far this recently:
-I accidentally broke a 7 foot x 4 foot x 1/4" window - $300
-Replaced alternator and battery (yep, both needed it) - $275
-Have to replace ball joint/upper control arm next week (yes Jamie, I will get TRW stuff, I think you own stock in that company lol) - $120
-Computer crashed, had to reformat, lost some stuff, spent many hours working on it....this happened on my birthday...did I mention I run an online business? - $Had everything already, so about 20 hours of my labor. Still have alot to Download.
-Bought a laptop because I can't afford more downtime, need it for school and have a clever way of using it to meet girls. Will be getting about half of it paid for for xmas $250 of my cash.
-Some (edit) doesn't know how to ream a taper pin hole on a mill, so I am having to remake two hardened shafts for the front end of a motorcycle to fit the now over sized taper pin holes. $More labor
-Have to replace my right airbag $already bought it from Jamie months ago. $80 IIRC
-Have to replace a tire next week $free labor at the local tech school I attend

By the way, this is all just in the last week or so.

Happy 19th Birthday to me right?

So who else has had just bad luck or their kitten has died or something?

And you posted all of this in the wrong forum... so bad luck continues ! :p

On a serious note, hope the bad luck streak will end soon.

Well, Kyle, once it's all over, it should be good for a while. If stuff like that happens to me, I like to think that it's an off year, and that with New Year's coming, the next year will just HAVE to be better. ;)

Wait til you buy a house. My furnace went out before we even made our first mortgage payment. And yeah, anytime I get excited cause I think I have some extra money, something breaks.

The mere fact that at 18 and now 19 you're running your own business (sure the Kid has one, but I am his only client and he makes absolutely no money and has no actual services or goods that I know of) is great! A small but expensive streak of bad luck will hopefully be replaced by a long and prosperous streak of good luck.

ha ha at your age, you havent had a bad day yet, you got many more days in your life will top anything you have come across yet, trust me, everyday is a bad day for me, i wouldnt know what a good day was if it smashed me across the face.

I know what you are saying Jamie but lighten up man, things could always be worse. You got a great healthy family there and that is the most important thing. Everything else can be fixed. I took a huge nose dive money-wise this year through bad investments and of course being a Realtor in this crappy market but at the end of the day I know I'll pull through it and be all the better for it. Remember the age old adage: That which does not kill you will make you stronger.

For those of those that know me from this or other boards know that over the last few years I have been trying to leverage my finances to the point where I coukd afford the Mark VIII of my dreams - which is a cordovan CE. I have bought and sold several Marks over the years always trying to always make a lateral or preferrably upward move each time. I now have a white CE with 70K mi that is in very nice shape (visually). After I bought and paid for it I realized that it had a bad blend door. Well we fixed that. Then last Tues my better hallf and I went to the library and when we went to leave, there was a little "pop" when I started it. Power steering line, and even tho it was only a short way home, I did enough damage to require a new pump. Like most everybody else, I had spent much of the available $$ on Christmas, so I was greatful to find the bill was within my ability to pay. I picked the car up and headed for home. I got about half way when I lost the power steering again. I Also got a CE light and a battery light. Yep, broken belt. A bearing siezed in the A/C clutch and tore the belt up. I'm not sure what the bill will be, but the tow and belt put it over $100 to start - And Kyle and Jamie, I too feel like I've had a bad week. But many people say bad things come in threes and maybe I've caught up with the car for now.
