why would the passenger side carpet be wet?

That is were the drain outlet is for the AC condensation, you could have a leak in it.
 
If it is the gasket that goes through the fire wall you have to take out the dash and replace it. Or it could be clogged; you can get at the drain from inside the engine bay.
Also could be some other draining issue along the cowl, etc... You need to see where it is coming from.
 
Ok ill pull her into the garage one day this week and see where its coming from.
Something tells me its going to be a royal pain in the ass to fix/find the leak
 
When does this happen? If only after a rain it may be the fresh air inlet under the passenger side wiper cowl. Pretty easy fix with some silicone sealant.
 
Does it smell like coolant, is it green, does it make the windows fog up or become extra foggy in the mornings? Could be a bad heatercore. :eek:
 
i'll put in my 2 cents and bet money that the cabin air vent under the passenger side wiper cowel has split seam sealer around the base of it. its not year specific with the mark VIII, happens to all of them. i have fixed numerous mark VIII's with this very vent leaking, and when it does, its on the pass front floor.
 
OK...it wasn't exactly a Lincoln seal...I MADE it out of something I had in the basement. Too long ago to remember....but it was rubber and it had a self stick seal on bottom... but then....maybe is WAS a Lincoln part...it was a long time ago...2001 or 2
 
Oh ok. Thanks for the clarification Bud. Nice bit of fabrication though. But you shouldn't do that to me,as I confuse easily. LOL

Jesse, wouldn't any moisture in the car make the windows fog,no matter the source?
 
Yes, but coolant makes it amplified...WAY worse, AND it doesn't defrost like normal moisture because of the oily vapor from the coolant. The reason I asked that specifically is because you'd know if it was coolant just by the way the windows fog up. :)
 
Thanks for all the suggestions it does happen usually right after it rains alot it depends though sometimes it will sometimes it wont and sometimes its only in the back seat and not in the front
 
I had a slight leak right above the pass side visor by the creves against the winshield. About 3" to the left of the visor swivel thing. I got some rtv sealent and put a coat in between the rubber windshield gasket all the way around. The gap is only maybe 4-5 paper's thick but it seems to work so far.

Somebody might of mentioned this but the air intake for the cabin can leak around the gasket. It is located on the pass side under the cowl cover. I checked there first but it wasnt leaking but put some sealant around it anyways since i was in there.


I'd suggest busting out a hose and aim it all around the windshield and check for dampness inside afterwards. I'd spray for 5-10 min.

I had to fix both of mine for this.
 
+2 On the cabin air vent. I haven't seen one that doesn't leak. Easy fix with silicone after you take the wiper cowl off.
