RE: Will this AM/FM/CD work in my '95?

1995 has the large opening like '96-'98. Here's some information for anyone else looking to do a similar swap. The radios in our cars, at least '95 to '97, have Ford P100 plugs, which is a small square black plug for the speaker/amp leads, one flat grey plug for power, memory, lights, ect, and a standard antenna plug. The part number for the AM/FM/Cassette that came out of my car is F5LF-19B165-BE. The part number for a P100 AM/FM/CD, with teal lights, without clock, is F7LF-18C815-AB. The part number for the P100 AM/FM/CD, with teal lights, with clock, is F7LF-18C815-BB. These units will not control a changer, but are a plug & play swap for those stuck with an AM/FM/Cassette.

I had read on the other site that the '97's had a little more bass, and that it might have been the amplifier and/or speakers. However, this head unit seems to have a fatter sound with a little more bass, even on FM stations, than the cassette deck had.

I purchased a brand new unit, with a one year warranty from SPL Electronic, at a fraction of the dealer cost. The first radio was damaged in transit via UPS, as was the second. Both times, the CD deck was in-op. The third radio was sent USPS Priority Mail, and it arrived working great. Sam at SPL was a pleasure to deal with, payed for all the return shipping (ate about $40 in shipping), and even sent the third radio without waiting for me to return the defective unit. He did mention that he had three other units come back in a two week period with shipping damage, all had problems with the CD deck. All in all, I am satisfied with the purchase, so I wanted to share this information with the board. SPL can be found at http://www.oem-auto-accessory.com or 1-866-629-1361.

BTW, from what I gathered, the MACH MP3 and Ford CD6 units can be installed in our cars, but you will need to use an amp by-pass harness, since those units have an internal amplifier.
