Windshield Wipers not wiping!

Hello there!

When I went to go to work last night, I went to use the wipers to sweep the windshield clear.

They came up about two inches, and that that was the extent of the area that they cleared as they kept wiping.

Any suggestions before I take it to the dealer?

hmmmm i kinda have this problem w/ my m8
my low wipers dont work if i just simply turn them on
i have to turn them on high wait a few wipes then set to low

also i cant use the like the bottom 7 different notches i use only the top 3 that are the only labled ones; low,med,and high

not sure if it help but i think the overall system for wipers on the m8 is about as good as the stock headlights

I wouldn't take it to the dealer. My first suspect would be the wiper motor. It's a DIY job. The wipers on my '93 would pause in strange places and a new motor fixed it.

Unfortunately, most of my tools are 1200 miles away, so anything beyond a really simple job most likely requires the dealer.

I was just hoping for an easy fix, like the intermittent blower motor fix.

Well, it's not the motor.

It's the Windshield Wiper Transmission.

It's discontinued, and there was only one left back east. Woops, make that a computer entry error. There are none.

Now the dealership is trying to rebuild the old one, if they can get the parts to do that.

I think that this is the last straw with this car.

That used to be part of the replacement when you got a new motor. At least it was when I did mine.
