Yokohama AVS ES100

I have been searching for a tire and came across these. I know a few of you may have these and am just asking how they perform. Any good/bad comments is actually what I'm looking for. I would most likely run a 245/50/16. Are these tires good in the rain, how they perform when dry...... etc.

Thanks for your time.

P.S. - If anyone has any suggestions on which tire is best for the price, please post.( Mainly looking for a summer performance tire)

RE: Yokohama AVS ES100

i have those tires on the front of my car, in that size. They're great in the dry, i can't really say on the rain (i take it easy w/ drag radials in the back) but so far they've been great all around. I can't attest to longevity, as i've only had them on a little while.

RE: Yokohama AVS ES100

What size are you running and also do you have any pics of them ?
Just want to check something out.

245/50/16. there are pics up here somewhere, i don't have time to post them now. should turn up with a search, i posted them sometime this spring.

RE: Yokohama AVS ES100

I have those in 245/45/17 and 275/40/17 and they grip much better then I expected. I feel they dry traction and stability are excellent. I've driven with then in the rain a few times now and they seem to do pretty good. They shed water great when going through deep pudles. I didn't push them to their limits but they do feel good. Like sleeper, I can't tell you about how they are after driving on them for a while because I just put them on a month or so ago. Very happy with them so far. Good price too!!

RE: Yokohama AVS ES100

Thank for the info guys.

Although I don't know if I want to go with new set of 18's. Brad (Cudaz101) is having some 18x9 Saleen Speedstar replicas made for the T-Birds and Mark VIII's. I really like the style so I might wait and see what the price is going to add up to. I might just stick with the 16's and buy these tires, then put some money under the hood. I mean for that price, I could buy the tires and 3.73's and have them put in, plus a little more goodies for the interior.

Hard decision...

RE: Yokohama AVS ES100

i've got to say the money to upgrade to 17's was well worth it. I needed new tires anyway, and I spent just about the same on tires for 16 and 17 inch rims. So it really only cost me about 700 total more to put rims on. I'm not sure how much the 18's cost though. For 18's is where they start to go up a good amount. The improvement in handling is amazing when comparing the 245/50/16's and the 245/45/17's (and 275's out back). The car feels so much more stable, and can take corners much faster before the tires start to squeal or the car feels unsteady. Not only handling but since I put on the cobra r's the car gets more compliments then you can imagine. Total strangers walking up and asking what it is, if it's new, and things like that. The improvement in looks and performance was well worth it for me. Would never go back. I love the way 18's look but I'm very happy with 17's.

RE: Yokohama AVS ES100

i jsut got a set of these verry nice tire predictable lets you know when its gona let loose decent in the rain not as soft as the protenza and they are cheap on tire rack right now

a pain to mount though the curb guard keeps foldign under takes alot of fat epeole and force to mount them

RE: Yokohama AVS ES100

Im planning to get two of these for the front, probably 225/50/16 and 245/50/16 Nittos for the back.

RE: Yokohama AVS ES100

I've been very happy with my tires purchased in May 2003. They're Continental Extreme Contact, in stock size. Excellent grip, wet or dry.

They felt better immediately than my original Goodyear tires did, even when I first bought my car (19,000 miles then).
