thats pretty sad because it isnt really that old, we have 20 year old trucks down here that do nothing but pull boats in and out of the ocean that look like trailer queens compared to that lol.

Yeah, the car only has 110 k miles too.

The rockers are rotted too, you just don't see it because they are covered with plastic trim.

Here's more photos:

Another piss-poor FMC design from the 90s. Rusted shock towers .... really ? They should've sealed with the expanding foam

Looks like it rusted thru from the inside out! I had a 2003 that leaked water in to the trunk. Couldn't find the leak for the longest time , even took the rear facia off, and couldn't find anything. I finally found the culprit, it was the trunk seal that would allow water to travel up hill back into the trunk at the seam. Once I sealed the seam problem was over. In the mean time trunk got rusty in the wheel well.

That's gonna be fun to fix. Call the insurance?

Ha! Those cars are what we call 'rolling totals', meaning any damage and it's an automatic total loss. That car is done.

Unfortunately, that is a common problem with the Gen III Tauri ('96-00).

Mine don't have a spec of rust, but of course none of my cars do. A benefit of living in Cali.
