    Illegal immigrants finding new jobs...

By the looks of it, installing an illegal immigrant behind the dashboard is now cheaper than installing the control modules needed to operate the climate control.

Mark VIII in the top 15% of polluters in CA

Not only do I have to get a smog check again, I have to go to a TEST ONLY center...reserved for the top 15% of polluting models on the road (not volume weighted). I can understand why they required my old 85 5.0 T-Bird to do this, but why a Mark VIII? They should put swastikas on these places...

Gored Spanish bullfighter (not for faint of heart!)

Just saw this news: http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/37413114/ns/sports-other_sports/ It's fairly graphic, but to put it in words in case you're curious, the bull's horn enters from the outside-floor of the guy's mouth and exits out through his teeth/lips.

    C&D funny article stuff

John Phillips suggested some new rules to boost NASCAR ratings: 1. At any time, fans may throw car batteries, riding mowers, or any object made of glass onto the track. 2. One grandstand must be reserved exclusively for alcoholics. 3. All cars must be capable of 300 mph. 4. A lottery...

Need amp - which brands are the best

I'm looking for a well made amp - not cheap Chinese crap. I'm interested in the brands that use good quality parts (caps, mosfets, etc.) and know how to build an amp. Which brands are the best in this respect? I searched the internet for expert reviews and found none.

25% power increase and double gas mileage...read on

It's called the Fisher Yoke-arm and my review of it reveals no snake oil here. The theory is mechanically sound and their testing has proven it out. Here's the link: http://www.fishertechnologies.net/index.php I'd love to try this on a 4.6 modular...

    MY turn for car trouble...again

Symptoms: Missing at idle and low rpms. Drop in low end power. Observations: Driver side copper plugs looked like they had 50k miles on them - rounded terminal and gap at around 0.080". Passenger plugs looked like they had the real 10k miles on them. Also, driver side IMRC seemed to be...

How does my tranny fluid look to you? (pic)

Here's a pic of fresh fluid next to what I just drained from my tranny today. The tranny fluid is obviously darker, but fortunately there are no particulates in it. Does the fluid in my tranny looks like it needs to be changed? I only got 10-15K miles out of it.

    Wireless taser is coming

Our company has just been contracted to build the small mobile battery packs that will go into these things. The taser module is fired at the offender via shotgun, and is activated wirelessly by a switch on the shotgun. I can hear Jesse's sinister giggle from here...

    Evans coolant swap

Finally switched out the fluid. Was easier than I thought it would be. The only weird part was blowing air into the heater core to get the old coolant out, but it worked. I poured the prep fluid in, which floats the rest of the water out of the system. Worked fairly well. After filling up...

Do our engines have block (freeze) plugs?

In order to switch to the Evans cooling system, I have to drain as much of the coolant as possible. Are there plugs on the bottom of the block that can be removed and replaced easily? If not, I'll have to remove the lower radiator hose and jack up the back of the car as high as possible.

    Latest CA smog results (bad)

I passed...barely. Kind of surprised...I pride myself on driving a clean, well-maintained car. Very high hydrocarbons and lowest I've ever seen NO. CO is highest I've seen for my car also. My copper plugs have 10-12K on them, but my car sees high rpms...a lot. My plan is to SeaFoam and...

    Gas mileage vs rpm observations

Just out of curiosity, I checked my mileage in several gears while cruising at 75. I was using cruise control on a level freeway. Stock 3.07 gearing. 4th gear - 28mpg (~2000 rpms) 3rd gear - 21mpg (~3000 rpms) 2nd gear - 14mpg (~5000 rpms) My TC was locked in all gears, so there was zero...

    Amsoil in my Eaton posi

Since my Eaton posi had a propensity to fry pretty much any gear oil I put in there, I decided to try Amsoil Severe Duty 75W-90W. Eaton recommends petrol based oil with 2-3 tubes of friction modifier. I lost count how many different brands of oil and modifier I tried, but severe chattering...

    Frozen rotors installed

Since I cooked my $25 Autozone rotors with EBC Greenstuff pads, I ended up warping them bigtime. The steering wheel shook like a jackhammer when I hit the brakes. So I put in some plain frozen rotors at $100 a pop. It was worth it. Braking is smooth as ice. The brakes are still bedding-in...
