clunking noise

When I drive and hit small road bumps and holes and whatnot I get a cluck from my suspension, It almost sounds like some bushing is missong somewhere. I have the airbag delete package in it and have had no problems. Maybe its the tie-rods. I haven't gotten down under to check but any ideas? Thanks

Jack up your car and pull and push on the suspension components and your front tires, listen and look for movement or any noise. How many miles do you have and what is original on the front suspension? Typically upper & lower ball joints, strut rod bushings, and sway bar end links are pretty shot by 100k.

front, sorry had to run out on calls all day. Theres well over 140k and the history is unknown so for all I know it could all be original.

If you do start digging into it, and you have the money you might want to spend a weekend and replace it all. It's not very hard and will probably cost about $300 but your car will ride like new in front. New upper & lower arms w/ball joints, new endlinks, outer tie rods, and new OEM bushings can make a world of a difference.

Take a look first, some of it may be fairly new already. Make sure to pay attention to the condition of the boots on the ball joints. If they are torn or cracked replace them immediately. When a ball joint completely fails it tends to be pretty bad (you are likely to crash!).

The inner tie rods get very loose as well. Mine were pretty much done at 75K miles.

I kept getting a sound from the front or my mark the same sound I got in my t-bird I found it to be the sway bar connecters. The sound was hard to fined, I thought it might have been a motor mount or a strut rod. Changing them greatly improved the handling
Mine seemed tite on the car and wouldnt shake but after i got them off i could see the damage so dont be fould.

And in the rear the sway bar connection rod bushing, I did the aftermarket kit for $12

that piece in the link doesn't fit anywhere on a mark viii

You may want to also check out your rear shocks and mounts in the truck as they are a big source of clunk noise when shot.

Yes and no.

It looks like it might fit over the stock rear end links, but I don't know why anyone would want to do that.

It's a tie rod adjusting sleeve, just not for Mark VIII style tie rods. Generally used for non rack and pinion systems.

Looks almost like the "tread saver" brand advance sells. I bought one and the quality was terrible, so i returned it, and got the TRW brand.

All your front end parts should be TRW or Moog.
I agree. I was attempting to save money, but when I opened the box and saw how poorly made it was i returned it. Half the price, but probably not half the quality.

End links are not a critical or heavy load bearing component, so getting an off brand probably wouldn't make much difference.

I wouldn't get Autozone control arms though...

true but i will bet money that the noise he is geting is from the ball joint in thes part, my t-bird did it and my mark. it tool me forever to fined the noise on my car and the part felt good on the car. it wasent tell i took it off i could see how worn it was
