White Lightning - Rebirth

They definitely made a wise move on the White Lightning Project! :wave022:

Around here, we buy parts cars from CA ;) so that we can do this ... if certain someone doesn't want to let go of their car

Time for quick update from the weekend activities:

Donor engine and trans combo has been pulled from the old car.

Most of the suspension parts pulled as well.

The freshly built SCP trans is being re-built again ;) Thanks SCP

The freshly built SCP rear end is being re-built again ;) Thanks SCP

Upon close inspection, the 800 mile SCP headers are having a serious coating issue towards the collectors. We'll see what they have to say about that.

In the meantime, I am gathering all the parts for powdercoating. The list is getting long.

Few pictures ; not really that exciting, but hey it's an update.

This car is going to be great.

It's so nice seeing an old car from California when you work on old cars from Michigan.:D

That car is amazing.

Hey Craig, do you know of any similar condition California Gen 1's for sale? :)

All the Gen I's & Gen II's for that matter out here are like that.

I look at them all the time. Rust doesn't exist out here.

Doug

Good Question......I fit my 01 Cobra manifold under my stock Gen1.

My guess is something like a kb or eaton will be up there in the future.....gotta make the space! You don't know Jeremi by now do you haha

:::edit:::
Just saw you have 12 posts, that's why you don't know Jeremi! A blower on a a mark is practically his calling card.

Moving right along, Jeremi :wave022:

I think the spacers are to help make some room to close the hood on top of that KB that's going in the car. :)

The recipient of the trans-plant is also a Gen II, and is going to be fitted up with a "Twin Screw" so a Cobra Intake won't come into play. I'm already feelin the Whine!!! This otta be good.

Yes, the silver alu tabs are K-member shims, installed by the engine builder in prep for the blower install. They are too thick IMO, at 3/4". They will be likely reduced to 1/2" by the time this engine ends up in the new car. KB that shares the belt with the accessories doesn't need that much spacing. FYI, the spacers do not affect the suspension travel in any way detrimental to suspension geometry IMO. It's all adjustable, and within specs of the perfect alignment, at any height. No issues on three other cars I was running 1/2" spacers on.

The cobra intake was just a temporary solution since the original 2nd gen intake wouldn't fit the new heads.

Eric, 94m5 (Mike) knows me very well. He's just not a high volume poster like some here ;)

My birthday present arrived just in time on Monday (day early actually ;)). This should make my life a little easier.

god I'm so friggen jealous. What kind is that and what did it run you? IF the house I want to buy works out I will be doing a lift very shortly after I buy it....

That looks great Jeremi.

I'd like to see how that lift holds my black Mark, while I change that front brake line.:D

Let me know if you need some meatloaf help putting that one back on wheels this weekend. I have to be in Novi Saturday morning anyway.:)

I know J alot better than my post counts would lead you to believe. :)

I've been around the proverbial block a time or two. In fact my 95 was the first cars he spaced the k-member down on.

Looking good J!
