Like the spark plugs on your gen1 with over 100k on them the first time you came to Carlisle
So you're saying changing the plugs and wires should happen in smaller then 140K mile intervals?

Cause that was news to me...

The car ran so much better after all that was changed on the show field that I think I backed over a trash can when I wasn't expecting the car to move so quickly... :D

Well.....

Clearly the car is running rich, as the intake tract is wet, so I will be changing the front O2 sensors.

I'm not pleased with how the IMRC gasket around cylinder #4 looks, however, I think the last picture shows the bigger problem. :p

That's the #4 injector.

I'll pull the plugs in the morning, and we'll see what those look like. ;)

Ohh boy that looks like a whole lot of neglect  Is Joe helping with the clean up of the set parts? That would teach him to take care of the car little bit better ;) I forse lots of elbow grease :D

Seems as though you have nothing good to say about the car or his ability to properly maintain it. The thing has 150k, stuff is going to go bad.

I'm sorry... I only wash the outside of the car... :p

Anyway, when I had the injectors out, I didn't notice any of the orange parts being cracked, and I checked them all... :(

Iirc, all the plugs looked good at the NYE get together.
We'll see. ;)

I'm not going to let this thread get clogged with needless comments. Let's stop now, please.

I wonder how much fun I'll have dropping the K-Member after seeing these.

Good news is you can just cut or torch them off if they give you problems. :D

10.9 bolts should be used anyway

Take a look at the trans and PS pressure line. Best time to replace them now. RH block ground is probably weak too with all this corrosion.

I will certainly look at everything else while the K-Member is down.

Trust me, the car isn't leaving my shop with those bolts in it. ;)

As far as corrosion goes, since there's a thick coat of oil on everything, I don't expect to find much rust.

The starter may also be worth taking off, having it rebuilt, and painting it up while the subframe lowered. I don't hear about too many starter issues but I did this to mine a few years back when I had the subframe out.

Pulled the plugs. Plugs #1 and #2 were barely finger tight, the rest felt fine.

Interesting mix of 7 aftermarket coils and one OEM coil. :p

Not at all pleased by the amount of oil/moisture under the passenger side coil cover. :( The driver's side is dry.

However, what concerns me more is what the top of the #4 piston looks like. It's very wet, compared to the other 7 which are dry. This may be due to the missfiring, but also may indicate another problem. If it's just unburnt fuel, it should be drier due to evaporation tomorrow.

Obvious by looking at the plugs that #4 has issues.

Plugs 1-4 (R-L) in the first pic, plugs 5-8 (L-R) in the second pic.

The car isn't leaving my shop with these plugs in it.

Oh, yeah. The orange watertight seal that goes in the coil wiring connector for the #4 coil was lying loose under the coil cover, not in place to provide a tight seal once the connector was plugged in.

You can see where I found it under the #2 coil in the pic.

When are you pulling the RH cam cover ?

I hope the answer to the issues is not hiding there.
I hope it doesn't come to that.

I'm going to see how dry the top of the piston is tomorrow, and then decide how to proceed.
