Minnesota Markfest 2013 - Sat, Oct 12th

I'm considering hosting another meet this year, but given the late notice and recent meets in Michigan and the upcoming one in Atlanta, I was unsure if there would be much interest. I may not have posted this at all, if it weren't for a good push I received from a co-worker in conversation yesterday.

So what do folks think? The meet would be held at my place in North Saint Paul MN on Saturday, October 12th. Overflowing into the adjacent days for anyone who would desire as much. The schedule of events being dictated by the interest of the participants. :D

So please, chime in with your thoughts.

Thanks,
Mike

I'm IN Mike! just got home from work. Have to let the marbles roll back into position. I will chime in with an idea after a bit. First one: I will bring a lot of food to barbeque and some salad. Oh and a case of beer too!! Partee!!!!

Sounds good to me, I need to get up that way to visit my brother in Duluth, too. Left you a rambling message (what other type do I leave?) which included some beer that my brother is raving about out of Duluth. So I need to make a slightly extended trip up that way, plus my friend's bro-in-law lives up there.

I'm in Mike. I have been anti-social lately due to my new job and getting settled in again. It would be nice to have important conversations about our cars and your cooky environmentalist lunatic neighbor while pushing some nice black smoke out of the garage stove into the atmosphere. ;) I think I can safely speak for Luke and Eric and only assume they are also both in for this as we have found out today they are pretty much the jehova's witnesses of Mark VIIIs. That may or may not lead me to the purchase of a 3rd Mark VIII, but I'm not sure quite yet.

This might be the funniest thing I've heard all year. :D

Also, it is beginning to look like this "party" thing might have legs. Let's keep this conversation going.

Mark: Thanks for the vote, and thanks for volunteering to bring some grillables. I'll help with expenses if we need to get fancy, I just have no idea what to get for that sort of thing. Your offering to help in this way carries more weight than most (who don't know me) would realize.

Trixie: I got your message. Sorry I haven't gotten back to you yet. You know you're welcome here anytime. (beerdog, too) Bent Paddle seems to be a newer Duluth area microbrew. I haven't tried it yet, but have see it marketed up there. I'll keep my eyes open.

I will be returning from San Fransico Saturday night but you know I'll cruise up there after I land.

My question is how manny pizza rolls would you like?

One thing that just came to mind is my work week starts at 2:30 PM on Sunday so I'll be driving home, likely in the wee hours of Sunday morning. lol

:( I kinda figured this would be a long-shot for you this year. unless shifting the date would help? Also, I took some liberties with the "quote" function there. I hope you don't mind..

Alternatively, stays Château Martin include access to a shower, and continental breakfast..

Joe, when are you free cause you haven't visited me in forever. Alternatively train to Chicago, drive from here to MN.

Unsure at this time who may or may not be joining me. I was told, however, after my last "incident" that it's pretty likely my meds and alcohol don't mix (thus the broken toe with metal in it hahaha - oh and a body full of bruises). So, I would need either a first floor accommodation, or a nearby hotel recommendation. The chances of me remaining sober are only 50/50, however. I'll prolly want apples again. Not sure if I'd be in Duluth before or after, not sure if Marge, the Kid and/or Beerdog or even my brother would be coming, not sure of anything at this particular moment in time.

Holy crap, when did it become the end of September????? I'm never gonna be ready for Halloween.

ETA: Also unsure of what I would bring. Like food/drink wise (and clothes wise).

I live about 25 minutes from Mike, so if you need a bedroom I have some space as well. It's just not as cool as MIkes house, my stairs wont try and kill you. :D

Also, I don't mind couches, whatever, however, the floor is difficult to get up from without help. Stairs are a no due to lung and balance issues (seriously I was sober when I fractured my ribs). I don't mind hotel as I still don't know how many people I have, and I do use an incredibly annoying oxygen machine when I sleep. Also, I see foot doc next week and I guess we determine whether or not the metal needs to be taken out of my toe, and I have no clue if that will change any of my plans. This hasn't been one of my best summers :) . Add to that, hubby's only been at his new job about a month and a half or something, and I don't know how much time he's willing to request off.

OMG, I have become high maintenance!

Sharon, If you were pleased with last year's accomodations, I'm certain we can do that again. Alternatively there are hotels in the area, I've just never had reason to stay in one, so I don't know how nice they are and/or how large the various pillars may be.

Mr. Martin, please treat Trixie and Beerdog to a regular room. I am fine with a couch.

Mike and Sharon, Martin's Kingdom is free. No hotel necessary. Plus you know it's so much cooler here. :D
