Originally I installed the lift directly over the usual 4" residential garage concrete. The slab has couple control joints run thru the middle, which made it difficult to position the columns the way I wanted. I lived with it for a while, and then summertime I cut out two 4x4 sections and dug 1 foot deep, run the PVC between the columns, and poured fresh pads with proper doweled in reinforcement.

Just noticed the flush electrical stub up. Perfect.
