Well three years later and we finally fiquired out the problem and it was self inflicted. It use to have a custom made guard around the conical air cleaner. At some point my nephew removed it and forgot to replace it. The air intake is in front of the radiator and it appears the guard is needed to get the right air flow signal from the MAF. i could write pages about the grief this caused over a 4 year period. A very humbling experience for quite a few of us here. BUT THE MARK VIII IS RUNNING GREAT. AND IS AGAIN VERY FUN TO DRIVE ANYWERE.Got back from the track. I took both Marks. I first ran the Supercharged Gold 93 first and it spit and sputtered its way to a mid 12 run so I parked it for the day. Next was the stock Black 98 Mark and on its first run ran 14.72 and later a best of 14.59 WOW!. Trunk Monkey ran a new personal best beating mine. I think RobertP ran a new best also.
It must've been an "outlaw track". Most sanctioned tracks that I know will warn you the first run and eject you the second run under the 11.5 limit for running without a roll bar.You are going to need a roll bar now, at least here in NJ you would,
I know a guy that used to work at the track. He is actually still good friends with the track event coordinator so I get some Intel from him. He says it really depends on who is there and their mood. This was a low attendance test day with the more expensive $70 admission. They just want the money....and my car was trapping pretty low mph which might have kept their eyes off the car. Who knows. Lol. 119mph is weak.It must've been an "outlaw track". Most sanctioned tracks that I know will warn you the first run and eject you the second run under the 11.5 limit for running without a roll bar.
I didn't even get a warning. They came over, removed #'s from my windows and said "Don't come back till you get a rollbar" !It must've been an "outlaw track". Rules are rules, I was surprised they didn't come right over Im pretty sure they would have if Al Corda still owned the place. Better get a bar.I know a guy that used to work at the track.
