Sure looks like fun. :cool-blue:

I have some rust repair to do on one car here in the fender apron area as well.

Thanks for the compliments.

The car just started with a exhaust leak. Hoping it's coming from the collector gasket and not a header gasket.

Gonna crawl under there this weekend to check it out and see whats going on. *fingers crossed*

muffler bearing. definitely muffler bearing.
You're the one fixing it....

On a more serious note it was a passenger side collector gasket. Ordered a new one and should have it installed on Friday.

Have a bit of a road trip to go on this weekend ;)

Got the collector gasket all changed out. Here's a pic of the new and old one. Hopefully the copper last longer.

Put a little bit over 800 miles on her this weekend. Averaged 22 ish mpg. I'm happy with that given the way I drive

The past 2 weeks the Mark has been doing daily driver duty off and on due to some tire issues with the Altima. I took it to Peoria on friday night and started noticing that the clutch was feeling funny.

It is losing fluid. I'm hoping it's somewhere other than at the throw out bearing for obvious reasons. I'll tear into it tomorrow night and start trying to find out whats going on.

Looks like the season is over. Managed to get 3200 miles on her this year and didn't get started till June.

Well the clutch was a easy fix. Just a couple of washers.

Im about to venture out to the garage to drop the rear subframe. Any Pointers for a first timer? Thought I would post this here while the garage is heating up.

well, have fun!
i hope the subframe bolts come loose. if they do, its not bad.
if they dont, you'll need a hole saw.

if you cut an access hole first, and apply some heat and/or kroil/pb blaster to those dumb captured nuts, you'll probably have an easier time of it, but then you will have holes to plug somehow (as opposed to maybe).

these LVC threads are relevant.

and remember to unhook the parking brake, brake lines, abs sensors, etc.

As long as the bolts are not rusted inside the bushing sleeves you won't have too much trouble. The cage nuts are rarely the problem, and you can spray them with penetrating oil of your choice ahead of time thru small access holes in the unibody.

So how did it go ? lol

Thanks for the info.

Yesterday I was able to get the car up in the air and get the exhaust out of the way. Which I know doesn't sound like much but first I'm a terribly slow worker. My jack is absolutely terrible and I had to dick with it just to work and then it wouldn't get the car high enough to go on stands. So I had to mess around with boards and multiple times jacking.

The rear subframe looks kinda rusty. I'm hoping that I don't run into all the problems that you guys are talking about. Last night I coated all the bolts that I saw with pb blaster. We didn't get as much snow today as they were calling for so it looks like I won't get out of Family xmas so the car will have to wait till tuesday before I can get back out there.

Well it doesn't look too good. Finally got around to working on it again today and I got everything disconnected and out of the way. Started taking the brackets off and they worked slow but I got all the bolts out but one busted off. Stuck my breaker bar on the first sub frame bolt and laughed. So I went and got a 4' cheater bar and still couldn't get the damn thing to move. I'm going to assume that the bolts are rusted in the bushings or something of that nature. What's my best choice for next step?

Use some heat? Bigger cheater? Say screw it and not make it look nice under there? lol

I don't know what I hate more, rust or bad tools, that floor jack sounds like a PITA.

From the pics I would assume its rust locking them bolts in.
Its up to you how far to take this project.
You can do what it takes to rebuild the rear without dropping the sub.... how pretty do you want it to look down under.

On head popped off. Everything sits with a 3rd coat of pb blaster for the night. It's coming out tomorrow when if it doesn't want to.
