10 lbs today, 178 down to 168 oh man it feels so good to see the crap coming off! been 8 years since i saw 160's now i have 18 more to go, should be a breeze. i owe the inspiration to my wife she is what i needed to make this happen. time for dinner, work out then go jogging!! i'm so happy!!

Good going Jamie.... I need to drop 50!!! And don't know how I'm gonna do it. At 72 it hurts to do physical exercise and the metabolism is so slowed down every morsel I put in my mouth goes to my belly!

If I could strengthen my arms, I could push myself away from the table!

Bud, I have dropped 29 lb since April via weight watchers for men online. No need to get physical if you don't want to, activity gives you extra points if you want. You just need to eat right and portion control. It takes a little extra time to measure things out and compute the points but i eat what i want as long as i stay within the points allotted. Since fresh fruits and vegetables are zero points you eat more of them then going for cookies. :)

Also the rate i am loosing weight is health, avg 1.6 lb per week. Some weeks you loose more, stay the same or even gain a pound back like i did when i went to Carlisle. It has taught me to eat healthy and now that i don't stuff myself until i am over full i no longer am having acid reflux issues and stopped taking nexium every day.

Jamie, that's the first time I've heard you say you're happy. Congrats dude!!

Way to go Jamie! I'm with you on this man and lots of people near and far that are trying to be healthy and physically fit. The problem is, when you go to the gym or even more so work out on your own, it's only you (well, the wife too since you're married). There is no one there typically to give you that motivation and drive to keep going unless you have a personal trainer (which is terribly expensive). You sir have an advantage being married. You can work together and have lots of fun and it doesn't cost you a dime!

I started back in February at LA Fitness and I have trained myself to have the mindset that I am never going to give up. As long as I am physically capable of lifting weights, I am going to do it. This is a lifelong choice that I made in February. It is HUGELY a mental state of mind that makes me get my butt up and go to the gym everyday. I typically go after work, and the gym is on the way home so that makes it easier but sometimes I've had a long day at work and I feel lazy and I have to push through those emotions and focus on getting there. Sometimes the bullcrap in life can drag a person down and I know you've dealt with some of that crap lately yourself. But I ALWAYS tell myself this, no matter what crap I am going through I AM going to feel better once the day is over and I have gotten those endorphins flowing. I am rootin' for ya man. I feed off of positive reinforcement and with this strong mental state of mind I have forced myself into, I feel the need to give it back. Keep goin' man!

And for the record, this was the same mental state of mind that I used back in November of 2004 when I decided to get clean off of some very hard drugs. Obviously, that is neither one of our cases here, but treat it like something you don't want to go back to, and that would be a state of physical inactivity. ;)

I suppose I could have multi-quoted this one lol.

Anyhow, I too can relate here. The past couple years I have had terrible acid reflux that got to the point where I was going to look into taking some sort of medication for it. I was taking TUMS like it was going out of style. When I started hitting the gym back in February, these symptoms virtually disappeared. Once in a blue moon I will get a mild case, but that seems to be only when I slack that day and go to McDonalds. Ever since I started lifting, my body can't handle the greasy foods like it use to, and it lets me know and gives me a painful reminder of how I need to be eating. But other than that rare occurrence, it is simply gone.

Good job Jamie!

Once I got out of the hosp last year I gained 70 lb's in about 7 months, the first 30 in 1.5 months. Yea, I hit 300lbs on the dot. Needless to say I felt like sh!t. I was finally able to get a job and it started coming off. Not due to phisical work but due to not staying at home eating and hating my life.

I myself have lost 40lbs since march. No excersize, just keep my cal's down like I used too. Prob 1500-1750 a day. I'm a big boy though at 6'3". I was steady at 225-235 for about 7 years prior to the hosp visit. I got 30-35 more to go and hope to be back to my stable weight if not a couple lbs lighter by the first of the year.

It's amazing just how good losing weight can make a man feel, both physically and mentally.. You're doing a great job and hopefully you reach your goal in the coming months.

thats what i am doing is the calorie counting, i only take in around 1400 a day, still eating, just eating way smarter and a lot less portions. no more soda, no junk food, its a major change but after seeing how hot my wife looks now i need to do something before she leaves me for a stud!!!! lol i am in a much better mood lately. and thanks for the kind words too!

Don't forget garbage in and garbage out, if you eat right you poo a whole lot better too

steve, its so funny you say this, and i dont want to get gross here, but i used to go at least 4 to 5 times a day, sometimes more, but now i go in the am after i wake up, and i usually dont go again after lunch at work, then i come home and eat dinner and usually go again after dinner, twice a day. huge changes have already happend, i feel way better, i am not as tired as i have been, i used to come home from work and take a 2 or 3 hour nap, i dont even lay down now. after work i chill at home for a bit, we eat dinner then we go for a jog/walk combo. i cant make the whole trip jogging, i do still smoke, but i smoke twice as much as my wife and i can easily out jog her by a long shot, she cant understand how i can even jog, neither can i but it doesnt bother me at all, i dont huff and puff like a smoker of my magnitude should! i will be quitting the smokes soon too then i should be able to jog without the walking in between. what a difference in the way i feel though dam!!

I'll join in on the weight loss circlejerk. :D

I lost 5 lbs in two weeks by simply working out at lunch vs after work... it really keeps the metabolism up.
