95 trans has no second gear

I'm going to look at a 95 mark and the guy said it only has first gear so I was wondering if it could be a sensor . It sounds like the guy doesn't know much about cars and wants $400.00 for it.
so what do ya'll think ?

Hmm.. if it's only $400 and the only thing wrong is the trans, sounds like one hell of a deal. Only having First gear rather than other gears that slip doesn't sound right. Check it over carefully, could be just the MLPS. Pull the ATF dip stick. It could be just out of ATF. I have a perfect 85K stock, 2nd gear chirpin' '94 trans with TC and installed shift kit for only $300 if it's shot (near Wash. DC). I love buying "broken" cars that need something easy fixed.

You could part out 3-4 parts and get all your money back.

Well this was a false alarm, when I got waaay out that gravel /dirt road which I hardly ever drive my mark low and behold it was a contenental 4dr they thought it was a mark ,oh well thanks for the replies

......I hate STUPID people! My conversation on the phone with a muffler place:

Me: "....I've got a Lincoln Mark VIII."
Muff Guy: "Four door?"
Me: "No. 2 door."
Muff Guy: "Oh, that's one of the BIG ones...."
