RE: '96 MKVIII dies instantly
Just curious if you can check the fuel pressure on the fuel rail. I think there is a valve there (Schreader Valve). If no pressure, then there's your issue. If you have pressure, then no fire. I'd change the crank sensor seeing as it is relatively cheap and prone to failure. Good luck.
