A Friend of mine just bout a newer caddilac and is selling his 98 continetal for 2500 dollars, he says nothings wrong with the car, But I cant help think otherwise. The car had 180000miles on it but it looks like its in mint condition.
What im asking is does anybody know the common problems that happen with high miles with these cars? I dont want to drive my mark in winter again. thanks

Emm 180k miles for a continental is a lot.. that transmission isn't very solid... what about the suspension? Was it replaced with coils yet?

No the suspension is stock and no messages came on. I drove the car hard and fast and they tranny shifted strong. there was a vibration in the stearing which he says is the tires but im not sure ?

i had a slight vibration in mine too i got it aligned and that fixed it, i would take it to a mechanic to get it looked at prior to purchase

I might be late here, but I dont have a Conti., so I just got around to this thread. My Mark had a vibration when I bought it. Tires looked good so I took it in for balancing. Vibration problem solved!

I have a 96' Continental that was a salvage rebuild. I am at 158K and have had no really bad problems aside from basic maintence. The air-ride works like a dream. Most of the troubles I have had stem from poor workmanship during the rebuild. The engine runs smooth and quite and still has awesome power behind it. No tranny troubles either. I say go for it as well. From experience, I vote -tie rod ends, ball joints, water pump, and stabilzer links will be your first high mileage projects. None of which killed the pocket book. Winter driving is no problem. Last year I tried to play - and couldn't get her sideways...:D
