I have a 1994 mark 8 I tried reading the codes with a jumper line. I couldnt read the flashes just call me slow but I can never get it just right. I put a ohm reader on it and it made it go whaky. I may have jumped the wrong terminals on the test EEC plug. I was looking at the picture upside down. I broke down and baught the code reader from checker. After that day I started to get a flashing CE light 4 x's after start. I can also turn the key and leave it in the on position and the check engine light will flicker then it will flash some codes. it acts like if I had the reader on it doing a self test. Is this normal for the car to flash codes on its own without the jumper in the EEC test plug? and if not should I replace the computer befor even taking it to a mechanic?
I have another post on the CE light flashing but this may be connected. I dont know?
I read a couple of posts on other pages that stated you could burn up your diagnostric portion of the computer if its done wrong. Any takers on the subject.
