Bullitt intake

I looked in the search area and didn't find anything on this subject. Has anybody here ever tried installing just the upper plenum from a Bullit intake to a Gen 1 Mark? It sure would be nice to move the throttle body up to where you could use some of the after market CAI's for the Mustangs. I would think there is a way to make this possible. If I'm wrong, it won't be the first, or the last. Just curious before I go on the search for one. Thanks.

RE: Bullitt intake

refresh my memory, is the bullit a 4v car or a 2v car?

Either way, it wouldn't work. If the bullit is 4v, it has the tumble port heads and the intake won't fit. If it's 2v, it definitely won't fit.

RE: Bullitt intake

Joe attempted it. It didn't work out very well. It definitely is not bolt on, you would need to modify the hood, and there will most likely be no power gains. Dave, it had nothing to do with where it bolted to the heads. There is an adapter to mount the throttlebody to the intake that looks like it would fit.

RE: Bullitt intake

WOW! Talk about fast response! Correct, it looks like it would fit. As strange as it sounds, I wasn't really looking for power gains, I was looking for ease of future maintenance and a bit of a different look. Do you know what kind of problems "Joe" had? As far as the hood goes, I planned on a cowl induction at some point. Dave, the Bullit was a 2V motor if memory serves me. Thanks for the speedy response. You guys need to teach some customer service classes.

RE: Bullitt intake

Tony-
I am the "Joe" Eli is talking about. Nice to meet you.

You have to have a billit adapter plate made to even think about trying to make this work. I got a billit piece of alum made and modified to where the actual bullit intake piece would bolt onto the mark VIII intake. It took a lot of work to clear the IMRC actuators, AIC, ect.
Once I got it bolted on there I ran into more problems with the bullet piece fitting over the fuel pressure regulator. So you can get the bullit piece to work, but you would have to go with after market fuel rails and FPR, and make up a piece billit alum stock. The piece of alum stock takes a lot of time and money to make work. In addition to all of this you will need a Cobra TB, TB cable, ect.

Not worth the time and money spent at all.

The bullit intake was for the 2V engine. I simply tried to use the adapter plate to help put the TB in a different place to help aid the simplicity of added a vortech supercharger.
If you are interested I am sure Dan would replicate the piece of billit alum for some $$$.

I have many pictures detailing what I tried to do to get it to work. I think it is a waste of time and money that would be better spent on something else.

Post here if you have any more ?'s.

RE: Bullitt intake

Nope, no more questions. I believe you have convinced me that it's not worth my time. I just had not seen any posts on that, so I figured I'd ask. Sorry you spent so much time, money and effort on a useless project. Well, chances are that if you didn't, I would have. I have another idea that I will work on then. I'll keep you all posted on that. I'd like to get a nice cowl induction hood with no more than a 2.5" rise to it. How can I get in touch with the Legedary Hood people? Do you have to send them a hood, or do they have them for the Mark VIII's? Thanks for the advice on the Bullitt plenum install. Now I can spend money on the......other stuff. Oh yeah, if you could send the pictures, I'm very interested to see them. I just have one of those inquiring minds. termsgt@bellsouth.net
