Carlisle 2009 winners

...Yet, his car is red, which goes with your theory about people choosing a red car over any other color.

That's one of the reasons why Carlisle is looking to eliminate the "WOW" effect from the voting. This year, for GM Carlisle there is no peer judging, all vehicles will be judged by teams of judges that will visit every car. Truck Carlisle is similar except you drive to a judging tent.

By having judges this puts modified and stock on even footing if they aren't separated in their classes. It eliminates the "oh look honey, isn't the red one cute?" factor and really judges everyone equally.

For an idea of what they're doing, read this: http://www.carlisleevents.com/ce/pdf/2009_GM_Judging_Guidelines.pdf

Hopefully, if the GM experiment works they will expand the program to Ford.

My club trophy says: Best Lincoln-Stock. I sure appreciate the votes :D

I would prefer the Carlisle not to be peer-judged myself. I found the voting even harder this year because our cars were all mixed in with other Lincoln models, since we didn't have enough room staked out for us. I will be writing in to Carlisle about this issue.

If you have the time, everyone: please go to the Carlisle website under the All-Ford Nationals and fill out their survey on this year's show. It really helps them a lot ;)

If that's not correct, I'll edit it if needed.

I sincerely thank all of you who participated for bestowing the "Member of the Year" award upon me. I am truly humbled, but I must say I think next year the rule should be the previous year's 'member of the year' not be eligible?

As far as the trophies for next year, I am certainly open to suggestions. The intent was to be equitable to all Lincolns and encourage diversity. As such we had the best of Gen1, Gen2, Stock, Modified and Other as well as the Member of the Year award. Perhaps we are once again getting enough participation that we could also add to the number of trophies.

I have mixed feeling on this. I think perhaps there should be peer judging but I can see where others would think teams of judges would be better. Maybe they could have the first place judged by official judges and the runner ups peer judged? I think there is a lot of merit to peer judging when the classes are properly setup.

Nice...that will also thwart the 'popularity contest',

Hey! I like popularity contests! :D

In all seriousness, having a car show professionally judged is no easy task. The judges have to be uncommonly unbiased and very knowledgeable of each model and modifications. Oftentimes that is not the case. I'm sure Leo could attest to that as well.

I too plan to send an email to Carlisle Events. I would also like to communicate and possibly cooperate with the Mark VII club and the LCOC and see if we can combine our efforts in influencing Carlisle Events for the All-Ford Nationals in 2010.

Yeah but in a show like this it's really form, fit, and finish and not so much what is correct about a vehicle. This is basically a "SHow and SHine" show so it's really all about condition. A pristine stock vehicle can, in theory, beat out a modified if the modified isn't in top shape.

To avoid confusion in voting for top Gens and top stock and modified why not simply eliminate voting on the top stock and modified and award those trophies to the two vehicles that get the most votes in the Gen voting?

Also, how about some goofy awards like "Wash Me," "Most Dents," "Worst engine," "Hard Luck... So what else could go wrong?"

And finally... it's 2:45 in the morning, why are we all still up?

Hi all! I just wanted to say again...Congrats to all of the winners! I had a blast, albeit a little overwhelming. I wanted to stay in the tent longer and converse, but also wanted to roam the show longer. Decisions decisions....This was my first and definately not my last trip to Carlisle! I am actually considering dumping the Motorhome trip next year and joining the "its 2:45AM, why are we still up?" crew!

Keith, there is NEVER enough time. I've been to Carlisle I think 6 times now, and it's still overwhelming to me.

JP, face it, you've done and continue to do so much for this club, and we want to recognize you for that contribution. I'm guessing even those not present would agree with that. Pillar or not.

Myself, I've quit trying to 'see it all'. I try to prioritize as much as possible and hit the high spots. This year would've been better if it hadn't rained most of Friday, but still there is just too much to see and do.

You're all too kind.

OK now you all know I have not been to Carlisle yet(at least to the car show, been through there many times as a truck driver) but a few months ago when i did the big car show out this way and won first place in my class it was judged by independent judges and I think its really for the best, when I used to show my f-150 years back I found that peer judging winds up being alot of favoritism and does not give the guy that does not have alot of money a fair chance to even get a 3rd place win. I my self have had to do peer judging when i used to show my Frieghtliner and know how hard it can be not to want to vote for a friend. here's a pic of my old show truck and i never won a trophy with it,even thou i think she was a great looking truck.

I'm so glad you made the trip out to Carlisle with your Mark! It was nice to meet you, and it sounds like you had fun. You could stay at the Comfort Suites next year - it's close to everything - roof parties and all!

Brad and I usually do all of our walking around the show on Friday. I like to stick close to the tent on Saturday, because that's when the largest amount of our members show up. That lets us have it both ways . . . the rain this year ruined that plan :(
