Ok I am at the end of my rope with this car. I swapped the engine recently and now I have a few problems and one of them is that every once in a while just after starting the car the CE light flashes 4 times and the car idles up to about 1200 then dies. The light flashes four times then the car idles down and runs normal and there are no codes stored ???????? Help me please.

checked or swapped all but the ect Coolant temp sensor, MAF wich worked fine on old engine, cks new, cps newes 3 months old off blown motor about to swap iacv it seems to work fine now. still need to check egr for sticking. do the O-2 sensors register upon start or are they not included in the closed loop system? I posted on the other problems a list of all I have done. Hiccup post I think it is related.

I may have fixed it.
When I put the new engine i had to wire the o2 sensor female end. being tired and ready to geterdone I may have switched the wires. tonight I unpluged the o2 sensor and started it. it started no flashing ligt. no light at all. I will start it again from dead cold in the morning and update then. Cross your fingers for me please.

second start with o2 sensor unplugged no flasshing light although when motoe went to open loop the CE came on steady. it ran better than before but it still had the studder. will be picking up o2 sensors and plug today and replacing Coolant temp sensor.

doubt it's a relay.
if messing with the o2 sensor changed the problem, stick with the o2 sensors for now.
if the o2 sensor is unplugged, the light should come on and stay on.
change the o2 sensor(s), make sure they're wired correctly, go from there.

I MAY HAVE FOUND THE CULPRIT, I STILL HAVE TO START IT COLD A FEW MORE TIMES TO BE SURE. I think it was the sensor for the EGR tube tube in the rear of the engine. I stuck my hand back there this morning before I starrted the car and wiggled it to try to get the plug off to clean it and I could only wigle it. but when I started the car viola no flashing light it did run funny but it is still 10 degrees F. I run funny when its that cold. I will be replacing the sensor with the original one off the old engine after i recover from new years. wish me luck!
