Chrome Strips refinish-DIY!

RE: Color Chart...ATTN! BIG!

RE: Color Chart...ATTN! BIG!

Marcus: if you have your sales brochure for your mark, you might be able to match (as close as possible) your tape color examples with the Mark examples in the back of the brochure. This might help with all the questions about colors that you are bound to get.

RE: Color Chart...ATTN! BIG!

John, LOL, nothing to be sorry about...I thought myself that it is thicker, but after the paper backing and the protective film comes off, it is a quite thin film, which is not bad, because that makes it easy to get it around corners and such.

Do you want me to go ahead and order all those colors for you, or do you want to meet up for coffee and see the tape samples??? Let me know!

Marcus.

Art, good idea!

Only problem is, that I dont have the brochure :-( I have all documents and anything, just no sales literature.

Thanks for the idea tho,
Marcus.

RE: Chrome Strips refinish-DIY!

Marcus:
I am interested in ordering some tape, probably:
063 Dark Charcoal Metallic
061 Black
046 Chrome
and whichever shade of dark red most closely matches the 1994 Garnet Red Glaze, possibly:
883 Garnet
885 Ruby
089 Burgundy
050 Metallic Burgundy
Is there any way you can do some comparisons? Anyone near you with that year and shade? Anyone out there who can provide Marcus with the color chips? I have a 1994 sales brochure but only one and do not want to part with it. Maybe we should all hit that auction site and pick up copies to provide to Marcus?

Anyway, what do you need for an order? Check, Paypal?

Thanks!

RE: Chrome Strips refinish-DIY!

Hey Rob!

If you can tell me where the garnet red stands between cordovan and toreador, I think I can get a pretty good idea.

Just let me know what colors of tape you want besides that and I will order them, you can pay me once you receive the tape, I will include Paypal as well as mailing info with it. I just would need your address together with what you want.

The first order went out today, and I probably place another one by the end of the week.

Thanks,
Marcus.

RE: Chrome Strips refinish-DIY!

Marcus:

The Garnet is a dark red, somewhere between the Torreador and the Cordovan. Torreador is brighter and warmer (more orange/yellow in it). Cordovan is darker and has much more brown in it. Garnet is more what would be called maroon or cranberry.

I've thought of a way to get a sample to you. I do have the touch up paint, so I could just brush some onto an index card and mail it to you. Send me your mailing address via e-mail (K9Leader@aol.com) and I will get it off in the mail in the next day or so.

Thanks for being the point man on this!

Okieodokie, Rob, addy went out to you. I try to match as close as possible!!!

Marcus.

RE: Chrome Strips refinish-DIY!

Hey Rob!

Got the paint sample, and holding it directly next to the tapes, the closest match is the burgundy, maybe the metallic burgundy, if your paint is a metallic.

Hope that helps, let me know what you want to do!

Marcus.

Marcus:
I think I will go with both the Burgundy and the Metallic Burgundy, as well as the Chrome. What will be the total cost and how do you want to be paid? I think I saw somewhere that you take PayPal? Let me know.
Thanks!

RE: Chrome Strips refinish-DIY!

Yes they do!

Is as shiny as the chrome, you just can't see it on the scan of the tapes I posted, as it is a mirror finish and scanners dont deal with that too well.

Marcus.

RE: Chrome Strips refinish-DIY!

Hmmmm…using black tape to black out the chrome on a black car…now that would be another idea….LOL!

Exactly. I want the stealth blacked out look. I’d like to do the molding above the grill and the grill itself also. Do they have it in 1.75” wide?

I’ve been interested in blacking out the Mark for awhile and have been looking at the different methods. The paint isn’t perfect so I’m not interested in spending a ton of dough.

RE: Chrome Strips refinish-DIY!

They make 1.5" and 2", anything in between would be a special order, but I am sure they could do it, even if it probably would be a lil more money.

Marcus.

2" will work. Just need some sharp blades. I'll send you an e-mail to get the ball rolling.

Excellent idea! A 2" wide tape would make an excellent & cheap black-out tape.:)

RE: Chrome Strips refinish-DIY!

Ok, the tapes for everybody who emailed me before the 10th of June will go out in the mail to you tomorrow!

Everybody else still has to wait a lil, as the next order is not in yet.

Marcus :)

RE: Chrome Strips refinish-DIY!

Ya! If I ever see you Marcus, remind me to buy you a beer or maybe lunch. Thanks again!

RE: Chrome Strips refinish-DIY!

Hello all!!!

Now that I am finally back online, after being knocked out by a nasty summer flu, a short update on the tape.

The first batch of orders (approximately 25) are out and should be received by now. ALL other orders are in limbo, because I just found out that the company is closed for their summer vacation, which still is for another 1.5 weeks (like I said, they are a small co. and it seems they close for 4 weeks out of the year.).

So, some of the later orders and other colors than chrome might be a lil later than expected, because I am still waiting for the third order I placed with them.

Thanks for your understanding,
Marcus.
