RE: Chrome Strips refinish-DIY!

The first batch of orders (approximately 25) are out and should be received by now. ALL other orders are in limbo, because I just found out that the company is closed for their summer vacation, which still is for another 1.5 weeks (like I said, they are a small co. and it seems they close for 4 weeks out of the year.).

So, some of the later orders and other colors than chrome might be a lil later than expected, because I am still waiting for the third order I placed with them.

Thanks for your understanding,
Marcus.

Hey Marcus,

Are our friends still enjoying their summer vacation? Or maybe you are enjoying a summer vacation. The electrical tape that I temporarily installed is starting to come off. Got the grill painted and I’d like to finish the complete blackout of my Mark.

No big deal if this is a hassle. I haven’t had much luck finding anything like this around Portland. Please let us know.

Thanks,
Keith

http://www.geocities.com/just280/mynew8.jpg. Okay guys,I'm in the process of painting my ride, been molding on a cowl hood scoop, but when I was in the process of striping the chrome molding parts that were cracked,it is like a thick plastic covering the chrome tape.Yes I said chrome tape, the molding is covered with a chrome tape which has a plastic coating over it,and believe me it is not fun stripping the old stuff off,but hopefully when I paint it I will paint all the bumper and side molding the same as the car,but would be interested in some chrome tape myself, seeing how the chrome tape is there from the factory anyways, just thought I would let people know what was under the cracked pieces of molding I had !

Marcus:
I have been offline for a while -- enjoying summer vacation to the max -- and am just now getting back to business. Was the tape ordered? If so, do you have it yet? Let me know so we can iron out payment and getting the tape to me . . .

Marcus:
I think I will go with both the Burgundy and the Metallic Burgundy, as well as the Chrome. What will be the total cost and how do you want to be paid? I think I saw somewhere that you take PayPal? Let me know.
Thanks!

seeing as how this is a 4yr old thread,is this tape still avalable?I tried to buy new mldgs from the dealer but they dont stock it anymore.

I bought mine from a company local here. It is 1/2" chrome pin-stripe tape. granted, the factory chrome strips are closer to 5/8" wide, but the tape I used came out BRILLIANTLY.

see for yourself here:

THE COMPANY IS CALLED Golden Gate North P&S car care products.

just ask for the 50 ft roll of 1/2" wide chrome pinstripe tape. It is about $36+ shipping.

I've since re-covered the chrome tape with black, for the "blacked out LSC" look.

FYI - last year I was able to get the factory moulding when I had the front bumper repainted. Check with Max at Five star Ford to see if it's still available.

I believe the tape they're talking about is the chrome strip inside the mouldings/bumpers.
