Defroster grid repair kits

Anybody have luck using them? I noticed this winter that some of the lines weren't working.

I remember my dad using one many years ago. It worked, but where the repair was, it got hot faster than everywhere else. Hence you'd get this big "hole" in the fog/frost where it had been repaired with everything else being nice even lines as it warmed up. Is there a secret to applying the stuff so you get an even line? I guess I'm just picky. Can a professional fix it?

Actually there's another reason why I want to try and fix it: My AM reception sucks. And the defroster grid IS the AM antenna, so I'm hoping this'll fix it. A new window is out of the question.

Unless someone here is willing to break it for me in exchange for a small fee. :)

RE: Defroster grid repair kits

I have used the repair kit on several cars, but not my Mark, so I can't comment on the antenna issue. It worked well in all cases and I did not experience the hot spot problem that your dad had. The kit is well worth the few dollars it costs.
