Hello All,
As I posted in my introduction back in April, I decided to get my Mark after having wrecked my 1996 Mercury Cougar.
I have since stripped most useful parts off the Cougar. The Engine is sold, but I am having a hard time justifying scrapping the Transmission.
According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_AOD_transmission both my 1996 Cougar XR7 4.6 and my 1998 Mask VIII share the same Ford AODE 4R70W transmission.
The Cougar’s transmission was professionally rebuilt 10+ years (170K miles) ago, but has been professionally inspected, flushed and serviced annually since. The last service was about two weeks before the wreck.
So my questions are:
Am I reading this right? Will the Cougar’s transmission fit my Mark?
Is it worthwhile holding on to this transmission?
