Ford Recalling 3.6 Million Vehicles (1993-1998 Lincoln Mark VIII)

I got my letter today. It said they don't have the parts available yet, but to make an appt at the dealer to get the cruise disconnected. And make sure not to park near any structures...
 
I got two letters today for my two rides. The letter says parts will not be available until some time in the 4th quarter. In the mean time they wanted you to make an appointment to get the speed control disconnected until the parts get in. They will then notify you when the parts come in so that you can bring it back and have the parts installed and thr speed controller reconnected.
 
Got mine yesterday too. It's been good for 11 years now...I'm not disconnecting it....also will wait for parts.
 
I received the recall notice for my '93 and '96 as well.

The local dealer loves both my Mark VIIIs and the guys in the service department will be happy to see them again. :)
 
You guys think I can take mine to a Ford dealer? It's closer to the Lincoln dealer. I think I'm gonna wait for the parts to come in, too, I'm in no mood to have to take 2 cars to the dealer 2 times.
 
I just got the recall notice in the mail. Disconnecting the cruise control until a stupid in line fuse becomes available is not acceptable! Since so many vehicles are affected why not fix the problem correctly and do a redesign of that switch?! I haven't studied the wiring schematic or researched a service manual so can anyone who has tell me where to look to put my own inline fuse? I really don't want to lose the cruise control!
 
My notice was mailed on Aug, 13 and stated that the part would be at the dealers in the fall. They also said not to park the car near any structures;hmmm.

I got my 2 notices in the mail last week. I won't get anything done until mid Oct because it would be a huge hassle to take all 6 of our running Mark VIII's down to the dealership!

Mark VIII's run in our blood. Even my brother who doesn't care for most Mark VIII's got himself a 1997 Black LSC with the octastars!
 
I went in today about my 93 and the place still had no idea when they would be getting the parts in. I'm going to a place in Quincy, IL.
