Front Shocks for 01 Cartier L

Hey all,

I need to replace my front shocks. The car has 36k miles and I've owned it for the last 4,000 miles. So I'm not sure how the car was supposed to ride when it was new.

My daily drive is an '86 LTC with Monroe Sensatracs. The '01 is a pretty much a weekend cruiser.

What replacement front shocks should I get? Stick with Motorcraft or move to Monroes or something else? I'd appreciate your input.

IMHO I would stay with MotorCraft. That is based on emotion only, no real physical experience.

I'm really curious though, what convinced you the shocks were worn out? Or is this the advice of your mechanic?

The reason I ask is I have an '02 TownCar with close to twice the mileage. I woudn't 'expect' the shocks to need replaced(even as a daily driver).

The passenger side front shock is leaking. The front end seems like its going to fall apart when I hit pot holes or just man hole covers. I am surprised too!

RockAuto.com shows a variety of available shocks. Monroes from $12 each and MotorCraft for $65 each. The MotorCrafts have different listings for standard, Heavy Duty and with or without the handling package.

Thanks Driller. I went with Monroe Sensatrac and a Moog idler arm on the passenger side.
