Fuel Pump Sources

I have a basically stock 97 LSC. Thinking of changing the fuel pump for preventative maintenance. Does it help or harm if I go to a bigger pump than stock? If so, where do you recommend buying a bigger pump and what size would you get?
Thanks!

RE: Fuel Pump Sources

What are your plans for the Mark? How many miles are on it?

80K Might go with some NOS later. Would love supercharger but unless I win the lottery!!!! Realistically, will probably keep it where it is now, chip, gears, MAF, K&N. Nothing too much.

RE: Fuel Pump Sources

1) You do not want to pay for an OEM fuel pump.
2) Word on the street has it the factory pump is ready to be replaced at ~ 100,000 miles.

You can choose between the two most popular - Walbro 190 or 255 LPH units. With any chances of power adders(N2O, supercharger...) in the future, the 255 LPH is recommended. However, the 255 LPH is a noisier unit and some have complained. If that is important, the 190 LPH may be a better choice. They also have high-pressure versions of both for more extremely modded engines.

I picked the standard pressure 255 LPH flavor when I thought I had a low fuel pressure delivery problem. I got it from LMS(the sponsor of this forum). www.lincolnmotorsport.com

RE: Fuel Pump Sources

Get the 255LPH Walbro, I got mine from LMS as well. Quick delivery, good service. Oh yea, it's not really that much louder than stock. The Mark VIII has really good insulation, so it doesn't sound the same as it would on a Mustang. You can definately hear it standing outside the car when your fuel is low or on cold starts. I think it sounds pretty tricked out, but that's just me...
