Has this ever happened?

So I am driving home from school a couple hours ago, here a little whine coming from the engine bay. Roll the window down, yup that's my car alright. you know how you always think it's someone elses car? Nope. I was about to pull over when i hear two snaps right in a row and the battery light comes on. This is ironic because just last night I was boring my girlfriend with the differences between my lincoln and her family's Camry. My pont was, "your's has v-belts, mine has a serpentine belt. Mine is better, faster, will last longer, way cooler, and it's american iron, plus Bush rocked the state of the union, and Hillary Clinton looks like hell." Then she got mad. Well my cool serpentine belt broke, so I muscled the car into an autozone parking lot a couple miles down the road, just before the needle started to creep high on the temperature gauge. Opened the hood, pulled out a snapped belt. No big deal, I can buy the part and change it in the lot. Wow, what the hell, my tensioner arm broke in half. Couldn't believe it. The pulley must have ceased, caused a little too much tension and broke right on the shaft. Luckily autozone had both parts, and the shop let me borrow their tools along with a detentioner tool. Pretty sweet. I dont think the Lincoln dealership directly across the street would have been that nice. Plus they would have charged me way more! Just thought i'd add a little something to the forum. No big deal. A guy at autozone helped me route the belt how it was supposed to go since I couldnt remember. And he was a Chevy guy. I guess they're not all bad. Nice guy.

RE: Has this ever happened?

The whine was probably the bearings going. I had a whine as well and replaced both pulleys and the tensioner, that solved the problem.

At my store we'll come out and help ALMOST anyone with their car. And we'll usually pull a tool off the shelf for ya if ya need it. I've gone out in the parking lot and changed an 02 sensor once, but it was for a nice girl with some nice.... headlights ;)
