heating up

So on a long drive home (4 hours), the car started to overheat when i would do 2500 rpms + on the highway in 4th gear.

I have a new T-stat, fan, radiator and coolant.

I pulled into a rest stop to see if it was low and cracked the coolant cap slowly and coolant started to leak out so i knew it wasn't low.

What gives? you think air is trapped?

You DID fill it from the crossover - right? If you didn't, yes, air is trapped.

Correct way to fill is from the crossover tube. When COLD, open crossover cap, fill untill you see the coolent (50/50) go to the cold mark on the overflow bottle. Drive (or run) until up to normal temp.... let cool, recheck level in the crossover...fill until at the cold line on the bottle, repeat until OK.

I had to do mine 4 times before it was ok

I don't know the installer of the new motor filled it.

So letting the car warm up at idle, i leave the cap off and fill it once the car is completely warmed up and this will get rid of any air pockets?

The air bubbles should be out already or you would have noticed before.

Could be a list of things but most likely its flow. I'm sure they put a new waterpump on right?

oh i noticed it before but didn't really bother because it use to happen at higher speeds with the 3.27 rear.

and yeah, the water pump is new...

My dumb self just found a leak... <<<Embarrassed....lol
