I bought a chip, and the catch code matches, i installed it like the instructions say,Its a diablo chip from dennis BTW, anyway ran awesome yesterday, then today, i went to store got out shopped came out and the check engine came on, it barley ran and spewed black smoke, whats wrong what did i do wrong?, did i install the chip upside down, does the logo go on top? where did I go wrong , i'm trying to fix but dont know where to start please HELP

If it ran fine yesterday then you did something right. Make sure the chip is securely in place and make sure all the contacts are clean.

would the maf sensor be screwing it up? i made a cold air but had no probs til just 1 hour ago.

some people have had this problem with the chips you need to clean it very good, and ass for the maf it should be tilted to 3 o'clock

Re-boot your computer (take off the battery cable for a few minutes.) Then see if runs right, at least for awhile.

Pull the chip and see if it runs OK (assumes a reboot.)

also when i went into the store after i walked away the alarm started going off, so i went unlocked the door it stopped i locked walked away and it did it again, so i left it unlocked,could this have somthing to do with it?

ok disconnected neg cable, let sit for min, then started it up purrrrrrrrfect, it ran for a while no probs, i also moved the maf to the 3 o clock position, what next do i have to pull the chip its a bitch getting under there.

I suggest cleaning the contacts where the chip go again. Then securing the chip to the EEC with duct tape or something to keep it in there nice and snug.

first let said before disc. bat. w/ chip in run till light comes on and
get the codes scanned to see wahts it trowing second disc. batt. and also take out chip and run to see if the cel comes on, i and might have to sent chip back to denise to check and make sure everything (eec codes match and waht not)is fine

here i go back under the dash, i called geno and he told me it was prob not clean terminals, he was great help super nice guy,it wasn't even his chip WOW! anyway i'm gonna clean it , he did tell me it should barely stick out,and mine is out prettty far gonna check it again, also before chip no probs at all with car so i am going to say it is not snugged in there.

well got it runnin ran for 10 min in garage (with door open, I'm not at that point with the mark yet LOL) anyway no code but exhaust smell like running rich, i tightened all hose clamps and such, how long before a code will jump out, also black smoke for a little while outta the back but went away, but no codes next step road test

road test a success now to let her sit for an hour and start again, like i went to the store then we'll see!

Make sure those contacts are CLEAN. I doubt you want to blow something up - and YEP - you sure can if the chip can't read/write PERFECTLY.

Jeff, the contacts where the chip plugs in are coated with ??? That stuff will NOT come off easily. 3M scotchbrite pads works ok, but carefull work with a sharp scraping instrument will get most of it, then the scotchbrite pads will get the remaining coating off. Alcohol or electrical contact cleaner will not touch it, it must be literally rubbed and scraped off.

This is the number one chip complaint.
