Help - Coil Boot Part Source

My car developed a miss and the check engine light came on flashing. From searching past posts, its probably a coil boot. Car has 86k and never had the plugs out or boots off. After calling 3 local autoparts including NAPA, they all tell me they can get the coil and boot together but not just the boot.

Can someone please help me with a source or part number for just the boot.

Thank you

Have you ever thought about just walking into any Ford or Lincoln dealership??? They're about $5.00 each from a dealer parts department.

Try $8 at the dealer, around $6.50 from our parts people, and $3.20 from Rockauto. Same FORD part.

I just went to the local dealership and grab them. About $8 each. I needed them quick so I went there. None of the local parts stores had them. In fact the Auto zone had my 97 as having a plug wire setup like the Gen1 does. I have to explain to them that they were wrong and finally found the coils listed for the 98, but still they didn't sell the boots as a separate item.

i wish i had known this years ago when i just use to change the whole thing out for new ones.

Here's the part number: F7LZ-12A402-AA

The thing is, when my boots were bad I didn't have the CE light. When the coil was bad, I did.

RE: Help - Coil Boot Part Source

I had the sae experience as Sharin on this one. When The coil went I got a CE light, but not when I had a bad boot. Although mine were not that bad, I could see some cracks and one was pretty shot. Maybe it depends on the degree of damage on the boots before a CE light is thrown.
