the O2 at the inspection is very low.
I told him about the O2 codes and he confirmed they existed. He then put on his big machine and monitored the system while running. The heated O2s were switching fine. He never wavered about the cats.Hehe...the O2 Sensors don't determine the amount of O2 during the emissions test(per se). The O2 sensors measure the air/fuel mixture of the exhaust when it leaves the engine and it signals the computer to adjust the amount of fuel supplied to the engine.
If you're getting O2 sensor codes, its probably part luck that you passed.
The tester guy suggested I install universal cats before next years test.
Oh. That explains it.Cuz they suck a$$ thats why, lol. Seriously....expect a universal Cat to last about 1-2 years before the substrate fails.
The packs are OEM. The motor is not missing. What else should I look for?Have you ever replaced the coil packs? Mine failed one time after having replaced just one side a few months earlier. Replaced the other side and it was all good again. At the time I found NAPA coils for around $35/side on an auction site.
This was around the 170k mark, they do last a long time, but maybe time if you've never done it.
