So like I posted on the glove box I sold my sister my mark 8 and she totally messed it up!!1! (or at least her husband did) so now that the have split up I'm left with the task of fixing it up again so that she has a reliable car again!!
:(:(:(:(
so this thread will be long and painful................
I will start with the issue of the car not turning on...........................
The car was left at some apartments and it got broken into and the battery stolen (terminals and all) the just cut the cables all together.
:(:(:(:(

The guy(husband) lost the key so i pay to get another one made and programmed....I haven't yet replaced the battery but after the guy made and programed the key I tried to turn it on with just the booster and nothing happened!!!
I do hear the fuel pump turn on and the lights turn on but the starter wont crank at all, could this be an issue with the key not been programed right or is it something else?
or should I just start buy replacing the battery would that have been the problem?

Any suggestion are welcome!!!!
I will try to make daily post and updates on this issues...
:(:(:(:(:(

OBVIOUSLY...put a battery in it. Some booster boxes do not work properly or allow the box to power on if it does not detect an actual battery. Booster boxes are supposed to be used as such, not as the actual entire battery.

Next...it sounds like the key is the issue, but again, start with the battery.

Ditto, unless the booster box is the size of a suitcase on wheels, you are likely tripping the overload circuitry of the box when attempting to start.

But I will relay this story...

My '96 sat neglected too long outside a couple of winters ago and would not crank when I attempted to start it. No biggie I thought, and I proceeded to get an extension cord and a small battery charger out to hook up and let it charge overnight. I opened the hood and proceeded to hook up the charger and when I connected the charger leads the alarm commenced to go off scaring the crap out of me! I rushed to the passenger compartment and inserted the ignition key and cycled the ignition on/off and the alarm shut off. I then turned the key to start and the car immediately started with no hesitation.

It was as if the car had went into hibernation mode and was rudely awakened with the battery charger.

Disclaimer: The '96 does not have the PATS key.

*UPDATE*

I ordered the starter cable today because wen they took the battery the cut the cable too short and it wont reach now.....
hopefully ill get in on Monday...

on another note I received the spring conversion kit that I ordered last week for the Mark................

But I must start it first........
Got to keep focussed...

I'm also not working on the car 24/7 sense I do have other cars to work on in the shop so I work on the mark wen I have a couple of minutes here and there..

Take that poor car back from your sister before she wrecks something else.:D

Moving thread to Drivetrain..

So I put on tue battery today and I still can get the car to crank.
Now if the key isn't programed properly what exacly will the car do?

Will it still turn on but turn off right away?
Will it not crank at all?

I do hear the fuel pump turn on and everything inside turns on but starter won't crank.

Sure sounds like a PATS key issue?

When triggered, the anti-theft will not let the car crank at all. Is the anti-theft light blinking faster than normal?

yes!
specially after i turned on the car by bypassing the starter solenoid!
it starts blinking then the car shuts off!!

Most likely pats.

Did they try to steal the car first? Do any damage to the ignition key hole bezel?
If so they may have damaged the pats antenna that detects the key. Ill see if I can find my old post when this happened to me.

OOPS.... sorry 'bout that. It wouldn't have worked for you anyway. You need TWO good keys to program them.

Why don't you call the guy that did it wrong and have him do it again....right? Were you able to start the car after he programed the key?

*update*

On friday called a different company of lock smith's and they came buy a reprogramed another key and the car turned on like a charm......
But wen I went to put it in gear it seemed to not go in or something sp I checked the tranny oil ad it was missing 4 quarts. After putting some oil on it it was shifting gears like a pro.

Today i went to the shop just to wok on my sis car and try to get it all done today.
It took me 2 hours to do the rear spring conversion sense I've never messed with te rear bags before. And only 15min per tire to the the front (I'm VERY familiar with the frog bags).
Here are some pics.
