Lowered 98 LSC

RE: Lowered 98 LSC

Oh my eyes!!!!! ::nono::

Was he a plumber in a previous life?

RE: Lowered 98 LSC

Looks real nice, the front is still a BIT higher then the rear, takes some time to make it perfect. You can fine tune it by hand.... I think it would look really hot with the new wheels.

RE: Lowered 98 LSC

Btw, having the rear, or front higher then the other, even by a very small margin will cause your mufflers to get scratched on bumps like a mofo. Make sure the car is 100% even to avoid that awful sound of the mufflers getting raped by the bumps and driveways. I found that lowering it a bit to make it even is better then raising it a bit when it’s not even, I had A LOT of experience with my air suspension and those wild crazy “historic” 1890 roads at my school. Historic landmark my ass. www.ut.edu

RE: Lowered 98 LSC

Very nice looking! :)

At first I was going to remark the rear was too low, but Moe got you first.

I found when lowering mine, I could not get the rear as low as the front. So it has about a 1/4" 'rake' to it(close enough for me). If I had to do it over, I would've started with lowering the rear first.

RE: Lowered 98 LSC

Also, make sure the put the white sidewall on the inner side of the tire if you use the same ones. It would look much better.

RE: Lowered 98 LSC

When I had my first Mustang, in the early 80's -- all the tires were whitewalls. I remember how cool it looked that mine was one of the few cars with the blackwall side out.

RE: Lowered 98 LSC

I love your new look! I plan to lower mine eventually ;)

I like the Goodyear F1's - but, if you like to do burnouts, they will only last about 12K. }(

RE: Lowered 98 LSC

I just lowered my 95. Set the rear first then the front. In the process of doing the front, I wanted to take it a little lower so I thought I'd adjust the height of those ball retainers that the front height sensors snap on to. Twisted 'em off. Left side and right, they were rusted like hell. Had to order new ones from the dealer. $12 a side! Anyway, I'm holding the sensors with a big cotter pin now. It will do till tomorrow. The rear sits about 1-2" lower than the front right now! Driving real careful over bumps, haven't hit the mufflers yet, knock on wood!

What kind of tire are those thin-white-walls? I am looking for a summer tire. I might consider a white wall to make my car look different.

Alexander, They are Michelin Symmetry P225/60R16. The white measures 5/16". They have given me good service for at least 40k miles with no trouble. Traction in the rain is okay, just do not push-it. I am not sure about snow, since I have not driven the Mark in it. I can tell you that they do not work well at the drag strip [/div]

Thanks,

I am using Michelin Alpin Pilots now for snow tires and I love them. I am looking for good wet weather summer tires. I do not want to do anymore 360's. I will consider those Michelin Symmetry tires. Thanks.

RE: Lowered 98 LSC

Mike, those look like the TRX rims I had. I used to slice my hands up washing those rims. I don't remember about the tires, cause I worked at Sears at the time and they sold Michelins, and I got an employee discount. :) But yeah, everything was hard to find for those cars in the early 80's. I even had to special order an air filter for my first change, until they started carrying them.

RE: Lowered 98 LSC

Just lowered the front another 1.5" today. She sits level now. I gotta friend that runs a carx so I'll probably have him check out the alignment in a couple weeks. I'm also gonna have him check the exhaust. At least bang out that resonator. Oh, didn't knock hard enough on that wood. Scraped the mufflers pulling out of my own garage after lowering the front. What can I say, I was excited to get it out of the garage!

Make sure its 100% leveled. Mine scrapped badly, but later I took the time to level it, and I lowered it even more since then, and it still hasn’t scrapped like it used too. So the leveling is very crucial so your mufflers wont be at an angle which makes them more venerable.

Man, I spent countless hours utill I got them perfectly leveled, especially since I didn’t measure accurately when I drilled the holes… heres the pic of the end results:

RE: Lowered 98 LSC

Mine looks just like that. I mean the height. I re did the height again to make sure it was level. I have not measured the height but it looks just like the pics above. Haven;t scraped over speed bumps yet, I just go slow. I did scrape one other time but that was coming out of a parking garage with a really steep exit. I forgot to go on an angle. Leveling the car out put me a lot more at ease though.

That car is hot Moe. You did a great job. By the looks of the pics, you went at least an inch lower than me - like around 24 1/2 to 25"? Did you have any problems with speed bumps taking account that it would air-up about an inch?
[/div]

Actually, I had less problems with that setup, then an unleveled higher setup i had before. I didnt have any problems scrapping.

EDIT: I had 245/50/16's in that pic. I miss my Mark, I should go visit it at the new owners house. But I wouldnt take it back }(
