After last year's visit to DLF's "shop" and suffering from cabin-fever over the winter months, I decided to have a garage built to house a couple of the aging fleet and provide a place to work in out of the weather.

It has begun. :D

24' wide x 28' deep with 11' ceiling to accommodate a lift.

It's already heavenly to have a place at home to work on the cars. :)

A lot of work still needs done. Electric and lighting are first on the list as I'm working with extension cords and portable work lights for now. Then will come the lift! ;)

As long as I have it wired, insulated and heated by winter, I'm golden. I'm still undecided on the interior finish materials. I despise drywall and painting, so I've been thinking of white metal sheeting for the ceiling and some type of pre-finished wall-board.

Depending on funding I plan on a 20' concrete apron out front then finish the entire driveway in concrete. That may have to wait 'til next year though.

The only regret so far is I wish I would've went with a 18' wide door vs. the 16'x7'.

I have a 16'x8', and I special ordered high arc rails to keep the door close to the ceiling.

Have you made allowances for that?

Yes, it has the extended rails to put it up closer to the ceiling. It also has a LiftMaster direct-drive wall-mounted opener to keep the ceiling clear vs. a conventional ceiling suspended opener and rail. With the extended rail and being a 7' door, only about 3-1/2' of the door rolls back into the garage. The door is also fully insulated. I had glass panels installed in the top section to get some daylight in the garage when the door is down.

I'm contemplating not anchoring the lift. It will have the caster kit so I can roll it around as needed. For those more involved projects, that will allow me to position the lift in the center. For other times I can position it over to one bay to allow another vehicle in the other bay.

How long does it take you to get to the Hagerstown track, John? Just wanting to know so I can plan my trips to your garage if/when needed! LOL

Badazz JP, my secret agent told me all about it.
My garage could definitely use that extra 4 feet in depth.

It's about 2 hours plus from Hagerstown or Akron. ;)

Anyone willing to make the drive is more than welcome to visit. :)

Very nice!

I can't believe how fast it went up. I was just there a couple of weeks ago, and they were still leveling the ground.

After you left, they poured the concrete on Wednesday and laid the block the following weekend. Then by the end of the following week, the walls and roof were up and the siding and roofing were done. They put the door in last Friday and they must've done the gutters this past Saturday. The gutters were not on Friday and we noticed them up on Sunday when it was raining out. LOL :D

Get something on the floor soon before it gets loaded up.

Yeah like an extra long couch... :D
