Mercury Mountaineer access panel code

Hey guys, I have a friend that bought a 2003 Mercury Mountaineer that can't find the keyless pin code, and the dealer he bought it from never gave it to him. Are there any stickers placed anywhere like on are Mark VIII's. Thanks in advance.

I'd start by checking around the rear hatch area, under the hood, and in the owners manual and the assorted paperwork that's usually stuck in with the owners manual.

The dealer might be able to look up the code by the VIN. I know GM dealers can look up the key by VIN.

Hey Dave, The dealer told my friend it would cost $80.00 to plug into the computer to retrieve the code.

Your friend should throw a fit in front of some customers who haven't bought a car yet. If the dealer didn't give him the code they should get it for free.

I know this is an old thread, but in the chance anyone else comes across it here is the answer:

There is no sticker like there is on the Mark. The only place the code is located at is in the B pillar (the one between the 1st row and the 2nd row seats)on the passenger side. You have to remove the trim and look in there for the sticker on the module.

It can easily be retrieved electronically with a scan tool.

If we sell a vehicle and the door keycode card isn't with the owner's manual package, we retrieve it and the Used Car Dept. pays for it, not the customer!

The keycode is on a decal on the Central Security Module, which is hidden inside the right rear quarter trim panel just to the rear of the right "C" pillar (behind passenger back door). It's a PITA to get to or read.
