Need some medical advice

i got my hand caught in the chain of my old dirt bike and ripped the nail right out of my thumb, the entire nail, all i did was wrap it after putting ointment on it, within a week a new nail was coming out from under the skin, in about 2 months, you couldnt even tell it happend. yours isnt bad at all, just wrap it and let it grow back, that isnt worth the time and money to go to the e.r thats really only 1/4 of the nail, just keep it clean clean clean, and dont hit it on anything, the skin under the nail is insanely sensitive when it is exposed. back in metal shop in high school, i watched my buddy jeremy get his thumb caught between the stone wheel and the table on a 3/4 hp bench grinder, within 8 second he made that wheel go from full speed, to completely stalled out, ground his thumb right to the bone, nasty nasty stuff!!
