Well, I got back more from Uncle Sam than I was expecting so I went and got a new exhaust installed. Pic's and videos are on my website:

I went with a single muffer (2.5" dual-in/dual-out) mounted under the middle of the car. It's basically an X-pipe and a muffler all in one. You've probably seen some of the other guys use this along with two more mufflers at the rear of the car.
I thought just the middle muffler would be OK, but from driving around the past two days, I've decided to add two rear mufflers. Previously, I had a single 3" pipe running to the stock mufflers with a cutout to bypass the mufflers. With the exhaust wide open, the car had a drone at 1700-1800rpm's (65-75mph) but I could tune it out with a reduced-opening cutout cap. With this new muffler, the drone is now at 1200-1400rpm's (40-55mph) and makes city driving very annoying with stock gears. With 3.73's or better, I'm sure it would be fine as the revs would stay higher.
Oh yeah, I know the pipework isn't the greatest, but it was the guy's first Mark VIII. It doesn't rattle or leak, so I'm happy. Also, he only charged me $180 which included chrome tips - that they were out of - so I'll get them installed with the rear mufflers. I'll may end up ditching the center exit depending on how the rear mufflers fit.
I'll post again when the rear mufflers get installed.
