No longer a Lincoln owner

Yep, that's correct....I ended up trading my 2015 MKZ 3.7 AWD in. I bought it in April 2018 as a CPO with 32k miles (give or take)...at 60k miles, the PTU failed and the internal water pump began to leak. Warranty covered the massive bill. I immediately UPPED my warranty through Ziegler Ford for extended warranty until 125k miles /2025.
Skip ahead to 2022. 3 sets or tires later, 104k miles on it, I started shopping for something else. 22 mpg wasn't cutting it and I began to hear and feel the PTU starting to fail again. NOPE....I know it's under warranty still but NO WAY was I going to pay for anything "not covered"...it was time to move on. My boss' son was the Ford tech that repaired it the first time...he now works for us, meaning some unknown tech was going to be repairing it this time around, and frankly, I don't trust dealer techs...and extended warranty coverage is not the same as CPO/factory coverage so I KNOW I'd be shelling out some coin, even if warranty covered most of it. I was done with the gas hog/tire eater, not to mention all the posts I was reading about the 2013-2016 SYNC systems going wonky, and the 3G modem being obsolete so many key features were lost with the onboard tech.

I began searching for a 2018-2020 MKZ Hybrid....The 2.0H is the workhorse of the Ford engine line-up...Problem was, I could not find ANY with the options/color I wanted. I had a few "must haves" on my list of options, and I just couldn't find them OR when I did, the cars already had a lot of miles on them and were already out of warranty or close to it. Plus they were in the $30k+ price range.
NOPE....no way was I going to buy a car for $30k+ with no warranty OR pay more for a warranty at that price point.
So....I began to stray....I walked away from the brand...NO, the brand gave up on ME!..Lincoln/Ford stopped building the MKZ in 2020 and left me no other choice.

I became a Lincoln owner in 2003 and through the years have owned at least 9 of them, all Mark VIII's....I snuck a few cousins in there (Crown Vic, Grand Marquis) but all within the family.

I will miss the Star emblem, but in Aug 2023, I bought a brand new car....and traded the MKZ in....I cancelled the warranty on received a refund and walked away....for now.

Thank you Lincoln. I'll miss you.

...
Thank you Lincoln. I'll miss you.

Bingo... my biggest pet peeve with today's offerings. Seems everyone is more about 'connectivity' and the latest onboard tech rather than new design.

And you'e right... for the most of us, Lincoln has left us with little to no choice. :(

Good luck with the new car. Sold the 2104 MKS to Carvana last month. The issue i have with Ford/Lincoln is not continuing to supply replacement parts for the electronic modules and other parts. The MKS had the known issue with the capacitive buttons for the HVC where the drivers side increase temp button would act like it was being pushed and set the temp to max heat. Lincoln no longer supplied a replacement panel. Your only choice was a repaired panel off of eBay with a core charge or one that was pulled from a junked car. They stopped making the MKS in 2016 and soon after stopped supplying various parts. I like the Lincoln Aviator, but i maintain my cars and hold on to them for a long time, so i don't want to have issues getting replacement parts a few years after production. I guess that is one of the problems in getting cars with low production numbers.

When, if ever, I give up on the Lincolns I'll be going backwards to a time before modules, touch screens, and expensive lights. If I pay 30K for a car I can get a nice reliable fully restored 60's or 70's car for the same price. It doesn't have to be a GTO of the car line just a basic car with knobs for the heater, radio, lights and a simple easy to work on V8. Today's vehicles will be soon obsolete and you won't be able to get the replacement modules to fix them . I know a guy with a Flex, his heater blower won't work and it looks like it needs is a 500 dollar module that connects to the touchscreen to run the blower. He had to buy a 200 dollar speed control module and new pigtail first just to narrow it down to the screen module.

I have a 2013 Flex
I'll keep you posted, he has to drive it to Arizona, he's going to buy a temporary small heater that plugs into the cigar lighter. If it was mine, I'd wire in a simple blower switch from a 60's or 70's car and be done with it. No fancy touchscreen needed, imagine that. :)
